I've seen a few episodes of Ali G and thought it was pretty funny. I wouldn't really call myself a fan, though.

I feel like I'd gotten most of the jokes (as a majority of them seemed to play off of common cultural stereotypes, like throwing dollar bills @ the Jewish cockroaches. Heh.). If there were many that were Ali G Show references, though, you're probably right. Other than that...I dunno.

I went and saw 300 at IMAX, it was incredible. I also just saw Sublime, a very deep movie.
In the Illusionist it is just your standard Romeo and Juliet plot - only it works. They fake her death, pin it on the lord dude (I forgot his title) and escape to a life alone.

In The Prestige - One guy has a twin with the exact same finger chopped off. The both swap lives each day to make it believable. The other magician finds a machine that will clone him, so the only way to make the teleport believable it to clone himself, and then kill himself - the clone lives on. Repeat process every night.
Neavo told me--he didn't want to spoil it for anybody. What I was wondering, I'll try to say this discreetly, was he a twin or a clone? I think Neavo's right, but I'll watch it again to make sure. Hope I'm not saying too much

Yea I just thought it would be kind of hard (and weird) to hide a twin for your whole life; so I thought maybe it was a clone, but I didn't know if the timing of him meeting Tesla was right.

Visually amazing. Great action. Targetted more for kids than I thought it would be (I had taken Cierra, though) but it was still a lot of fun to watch.

I heard that the CG in that movie was amazing. A friend of mine told me that if they had taken out the turtles, it would've been one of the best movies he had seen in awhile. I think the one liners were killing him.

Yeah the one-liners took away from some of the wicked fight scenes, but it was aimed at kids so I got past that. The line about Splinter and his stories was sweat imo.

Oh, man, the CG was great. The (humans, at least) character models had a real Disney/Pixar quality feel to them, which is good. The turtles looked even better than the humans, and the scenery was outstanding. And when (not gonna give away who) fights in the rain, holy shit. It's spectacular - best part of the movie, both visually and action-wise, if you ask me.

I agree with your friend (and Pastro) too. The one-liners really took away from the movie. You could tell they were going for Saturday Morning Cartoon humor, and not the more intelligent humor that was in, say, the 1990 movie. It's all good, though. There were a couple of good lines in there, but nothing like the comedy that was in The Incredibles, which was freakin hilarious.

I wouldn't say "take out the turtles" completely, though. Leonardo and Raphael were amazing, all through the movie. Donatello and Michelangelo(sp) were ok, but nothing to write home about.

Haha. I almost went through the same thing. She'd never been to the movies before, and was excited that I was taking her, but she didn't really want to see TMNT all that much. Luckily, there was a recent episode where she didn't want to go with her mom and stepdad to Sea World, for the first time (because I'd taken her to Disney, a while ago, and she seemed to forfeit interest in any other park except that one. Haha) but I convinced her that she can't say she won't enjoy it until she at least tries it. She ended up having a great time at Sea World.
Soo...when it came to the ninja turtles, I just told her "Remember what happened]Swordfish- starring Hugh Jackman, John Travolta, Halle Berry, & Don Cheadle

I was watching that, yesterday. I love that movie. It was on TNT, though, so it was edited. Oh well.

Anyway, I got a damn good copy of 300, so that will probably be the "last movie I saw," everyday, for the next couple of days. Lol.

Just finally saw Mayazaki's "Spirited Away".

It has replaced "Princess Mononoke" as my all time favorite animation.

I actually really enjoyed it! I didn't expect it to be like the (original) cartoon (which I have a hard time remembering anyway), nor like the previous films, and so I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. It is aimed at a younger audience and the animation is much like The Incredibles.

Overall rating: 7.5/10. Not stunning, but enjoyable!
