OFF topic: Then I must ask you, even though you might have written it somewhere else... but what's your favorite movie?

I last watched Seven, alternately spelled Se7ven in some countries apparently. Spoilers do follow.

      FIRST IMPRESSION.
They used Nine Inch Nails in the opening credits.

They used Nine Inch Nails in the opening credits.

      I liked it already.

      SUMMARY.
I would say it was about 8/10. I did like the way the movie director portrayed the dystopian, unnamed city. I did like the deaths, in particular Pride's death.

I did feel that the deaths suffered slightly as they had the slight hint of improbability but I was willing to let that slide for the sake of the movie. In particular I say that the script was not divided evenly at all throughout the days, with a much more creeping, dark atmosphere given to the first death - which got me interested - but then this rushed, lighter air to the other deaths.

Perhaps the most twisted death for me was Sloth. The air fresheners were an absolutely excellent (and completely ignored by the characters, don't you hate it when they point out how clever some plot device/the script writer has been for the rather intellectually vapid audience?) touch and without it I wouldn't have found the movie half as good or plausible.

The eventual meeting of "John Doe" was perhaps disappointing. I think it might have been a better idea to focus on the philosophy, on the ideas that Doe was trying to show, rather than making this character 'a person'. But the movie was action oriented and that sacrifice was clearly made, a bad one in my opinion, to keep the less interested audience, well, interested.

      PLOT.
Lovely. 90% lovely, although I can't help but feel the ending was out of tone, nowhere near as claustrophobic and basically off key with the rest of the movie. That soured the ending and I wasn't exactly compelled.

      ACTORS.
Morgan Freeman was great. I like that guy a lot.
The other guy, Tom Cruise or whatever his name was, I found irritating by virtue of the fact it was Tom Cruise. Or one of his clones. But he still managed to do quite a good job.

DO I MAKE A GOOD MOVIE REVIEWER?
      Not really. But I tried.

Hmmmm. That's a hell of a question, man. I'll have to think about it and get back to you...I doubt I could narrow it down to one, though.

      Kaniaz:
I loved that movie. That was a good enough review, I think. I agree with most everything you said, especially about the darker (harder-hitting) deaths being, perhaps unfortunately, placed before the less gripping ones. Then again, it's been a few years since I've seen the movie, so I can't really offer too much of my own input.
It was Brad Pitt, though, not Tom Cruise.....but close enough.
      And how twisted was Lust??
Oh man, just imagine going through with something like that.

Low-brow.....but still pretty clever. Good movie.

Hey, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are inseparable in my head. For some reason they just got associated and the damn neurons connecting them won't burn away, no matter how much damned glue I sniff!

Very good movie! Well done and historically accurate. I'm taking a class on Luther right now, so it was fun to recognize what was going on.

The Science of Sleep sounds promising! I'll watch it as soon as I've got time!

Just finished watching Cast Away. Pretty okay but lengthy. It's for school.

Ghost Rider- saw it with a few friends, I read loads of bad reviews on it, which made me doubt watching it but I really enjoyed. Great film.

pretty good...definitely has some signature Linklater conversation stylings, and some sweet cameos.
