Just watched Dreamcatcher. I didn't think much of the novel, but the movie was pretty damned cool. I took an intermission partway through. The Dudditz storyline reminds me of a YA book I really liked as a kid, Born into Light, which was also a lot like Snow. Of course in this case it's Snow vs. Lovecraftian shit-weazels.

      Dark City: Directors Cut. It's mind-bending and I like dystopia's. 4.5 stars!

I watched "Strange Days" earlier. It was a bit long, but really good.

Watched the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night. I thought it was really boring so I fast forwarded to all the good parts and finished it in like 15 minutes

Black Swan. Terrifying at times but thrilling and very awesome. Amazing and clever adaptation of the Swan Lake story. Portman is a legit actress.

The Social Network. I guess I was expecting a script that was more consistently witty, and more intelligence and intrigue. It wasn't bad, though.

Pshh I'm not a fan of action movies or explosions actually. I just got bored of all the long ass scenes of dialogue between those two old guys. I fast forwarded to the scenes with dragon girl because I thought she was actually interesting. Kind of gave up on it after a while though, didn't want to sit through the whole 2 1/2 hours of it. I'll definitely check out the American remake when it comes out though (David Fincher directing), and probably read the book.

edit: The Social Network was amazing, my favorite movie of 2010.

The only 'dialogue between old guys' was all necessary exposition so you knew wtf the movie was going to be about... there must have been about five minutes of it in total. :/

Saw two great mindfucks with killer audio engineering and soundtracks this weekend: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Natural Born Killers.

I went to the theater on Friday or Saturday and watched Rango with hubby. It was very cute and had me laughing out loud several times

I just finished watching "Dark Corners". Lucid Dreamers should LOVE that movie if they can get past the sometimes graphic and disturbing gore. It completely confused me so I had to look up what the heck the ending meant After I read it, I felt stupid that I couldn't figure it out on my own.
And on that note, it's time for me to get to bed.

      Is that the sequel?

I thought it was a mess, lolz.

Characters that act in nonsensical manners that you don't care about, plus metaphors that are so obvious and hamfisted that the main character actually spends a few random minutes of narration explaining them to anybody in the audiences with brains made entirely of collagen.

No I was talking about the original, the one with Charlie Sheen. I was planning on renting the sequel next, I know it didn't get good reviews or anything, but I'll see it for Michael Douglas in that role again

Last night I got around to seeing Irreversible, what a trip. It was pretty graphic at some parts, but it was all done with hyper realism which made it pretty disturbing. The acting was phenomenal all around, and jesus, the takes were sooooo long. There were a few scenes in the move where I didn't see a single cut in like 5 minutes. They just had a steadicam follow the actors around while they went through all these rooms and got on subways, in and out of cars, etc. It was really incredible, I highly recommend this movie to fans of indie film who aren't easily disturbed or offended. I should mention that there is a lot of homo eroticism and there was a really long and violent rape scene that was pretty hard to watch.

Tron: Legacy. Meh. Eye candy, 1.5 Jeff Bridgeses, pretty people in unitards--not much else. I wouldn't say the original had much more going for it, either, and the light-jet scene was pretty cool. Interesting that they had Bridges make his character an amalgam of Obi Wan and The Dude.

Have you guys seen the latest David Lynch and Werner Herzog collaboration "My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done"? I really hope this dream team will continue to work together. Although this movie could have been a bit better in my opinion. But I enjoyed it.

Just saw "I am number four" at the movies, I didn't realise it was sort of a kids film there were all these childish trailers on before it. The movie was pretty boring really, he had some lame superpowers... basically iphones strapped to his hands. I didn't understand what the chicks power was, and if I had telekinesis and I wanted to kill someone I would just squeeze their heart or snap their neck, simple, done.
Spoiler for small spoiler... sort of not really:

If you haven't seen it I would suggest waiting for the DVD unless your like me and absolutely MUST see any type of CGI super-power hero movie as soon as it comes out. What can I say? it helps with lucid dreaming

Strange I didn't think that would be a kids film.

I just watched "Despicable Me". That was kind of a child's film too but It was awesome.

Alright so I watched Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps last night. It was pretty lame I must say. Not enough rivalry between Gekko and the new kid. Plus I found the girlfriend to be really annoying.

      The King's Speech
About King George (the [something]th) battling his speech impediment. It was pretty good. I'm an idiot with politics and history and I was afraid it would be too political, but it wasn't. It was mostly about the psychology of the protagonist. Dramatic, sad, funny at times with sort of a dark humor. Not for people who like a lot of action. Very focused on character. This was a few months ago. I don't go to movies much.

127 Hours. If you watch it you will find yourself asking "could I do that to survive?" Franco should have won an Oscar

King's Speech. Good movie. Very good acting by Firth, perfect stutter - well deserved Oscar. BUT. I had very high expectations for it, and in my eyes it disappointed in that it didn't quite top Inception for me. Inception still should've won Best Picture.

It's certainly a deep, emotional and VERY FUNNY movie, though. That pleasantly surprised me, because I didn't expect so much comedy and funny lines. I think it's a pity the trailer gave most of the plot away; I was waiting for an amazing twist and didn't see one, and realized the trailer ruined it already. But besides the fact that there wasn't a twist and the plot was predictable (which is always a downer in a movie), it really got me sympathizing with and rooting for Bertie whenever he was struggling to get words out. I found myself saying, "Come on...you can do it!"

By the way, 3000th post. *self-consumed expression*

Yeah it's hard to go into a movie with huge expectations and still be blown away. I remember when The Social Network came out it was a done deal that it would get best picture and director, King's Speech built up more steam towards the end though. The Oscars are too much about the politics.

Also, it says you only have 114 posts

It does say your post count is 114. Maybe there's a glitch?
The ending couldn't exactly stray from what happened historically, and it could have been worse:
