From what I hear, the comics make the movie terrible.
The comics are easy to read since there are only 12 and they are usually all collected in one book. It is a great read and has enough character depth that just about everyone is interesting. In the comics, I thought the Comedian was the most engaging character. Anyway, if you have an extra 25 dollars ever I don't think you would regret the purchase.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I gave Hellboy another chance, and it wasn't as bad as I remember it. I still think they got the character all wrong, turning him into a thoroughly unlikeable, brooding hardrock d-bag, and the story and character relationships were just a string of cliches, but, um...the visuals were great? I don't know how Guillermo del Toro gets this 'auteur' reputation. Sure, Pan's Labyrinth was unique, but judging by his other films, it was the only original thing he had to say.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I see your point Tao. Sometimes one good film seems to be all it takes to cement someone in the realm of artistic foriegn/indie directors in a lot of people's minds. Another example, has Richard Kelly done anything particularly good since Donnie Darko?

Harry Potter(the new one)
It wasn't nearly as good as the other ones, not much happened and it was way too long(2 1/2 hr)
I don't think it was too long so much as the pacing needed some work in general. However, at least it wasn't crammed and underdeveloped like most Harry Potter movies.
I saw harry potter. I thought it was alright. I was completely lost though because I've only seen the first three movies and never read any of the books.
The special effects were pretty good though. It was trippy how they could teleport anywhere. Also having energy fights with their wands was pretty cool.
I wasn't able to go to the theaters and there wasn't anything better to watch. It was actually decent.
If you mean decent as in a God-awful piece of crap, then yes; it was decent. However if you mean the show, then it's much better than decent.
*ahem*
HARRY POTTER!
I was very pleased. I had already heard good things about it, and I wasn't disappointed. For you hardballs; it stays very true to the book, with about maybe 7 or things taken out or added. There is also a good amount of Dynamic camera use. That's a bit of fair warning for those who hate that, but I thought that added to the scenes where it was used. All in all, very good throughout. But that's me, and even though I very much enjoyed it, I could tell that not everyone's going to like it.
The movie before that; The Last Airbender.
A bit of backstory on my part. I got into Avatar after it was over. (I'm very positive the first episode I ever saw was the series finale premier, and I remember thinking "...That was pretty good!") When my family got Dish (and thus Nicktoons) over the summer, I could freely watch it every night because they aired it 2 hours straight (with pop-up extras! ). I really fell in love after that. Now, I'd seen the trailers, and those (along with a few online peeps who went to the theater) told me it sucked.
I just didn't know how much it would suck.
That being said, TLA has GOT the be the worst movie of 2010. As stated above, it is a God-awful piece of crap and should not get the next 2 "Books" turned into movies unless someone who's actually seen the freaking show directs them. Breakdown time!
Spoiler for Breakdown:
Acting - SUCKED. Especially for Uung. He had no personality, and even his screams were pathetic. Soak-a wasn't much better, which is sad because he's the quirky, comical character of the show, and still should be as such in a live action version.
Writing - I think this line speaks for itself; "I'm Uung. I'm the Uh-vatar. I ran away, but I'm back now."
Casting - Let's just say the only person they got right was Uncle Ee-roh, and even that was stretching it. Also, Black Gyatso. WTF.
Franchise - Notice the above italics? That's because Aang is not Uung, Sokka is not Soak-a, and Iroh is not Ee-roh. Firebenders don't need a source of fire to bend fire. They make their own friggin' fire (which, when demonstrated by Uncle, is about one of the only things plot-wise this movie did correctly. Shame only one character did it, though). Sozin's comet was to come at the end of the Summer, not at the end of 3 years. Zuko's scar is suppose to take up half his face, if not 1/3. Which didn't happen on-screen. And now I'm ranting.
Long story short, it sucked. Hard.

Ha, I haven't watched the series in a long time, so I didn't realize it was actually that off. I only caught the name changes and the fire-bending thing, no more than that. Bit disappointed that Sokka wasn't quite as funny, either.
The only acting I thought was bad was Aang's. The lines plain sucked (as you mentioned earlier) and he had little expression whatsoever.
I only thought decent because I am not a movie-watcher, so I'm pretty bad at saying if movies were good or not.
Gosh I get annoyed when people think that thier opinion is right. Its a freakin opinion! Its true for you in your mind, it doesn't mean its true for everyone else.
I can't, let's just chalk it up to my bias and call it even.
Eh, movies are subjective. They are there to entertain. If you enjoyed it, then it did it's job for you anyway.

Of course people think that their opinion is right, or else they wouldn't hold that opinion. Hopefully they can provide reasons for why they hold that opinion and be able to defend it.

Umm there is a difference between opinion and fact. One is subjective (only true to you) the other is objective (true to everyone experiencing this objective reality).
The reason it annoys me is that people hold there subjective experience as if its the objective experience, completely oblivious that they are living in a dream reality supported by their beliefs and judgements.
Through doing this they push their dream reailty on everyone else and thats how the collective conciousness forms. This is also what tv does. TV shapes the collective conciousness of the population of the entire country and other nations exposed to it.
Example: I am annoyed by this because I hold a judgement of having my own subjective experience manipulated by someone else. That doesn't mean you are annoyed by it.

Well, what, would you rather people make unsubstantiated claims?
