last movie you saw - and what did you think of it?

Last two movies I saw:

Iron Man. It was ok, but not as good as I was expecting. For the most part, it stuck with the tried and true superhero origin story with some witty lines thrown in. Not as fresh of a take on the genre as I was led to believe. The visual effects were excellent though, and the acting wasn't too bad either. 6/10

Baraka. No, this film has nothing to do with Obama :cheeky:. It's a collection of footage from all over the world, giving insight into nature, spirituality, society, and life. This film was at times very beautiful, and sometimes very sad. It shows the sorry state of the world and the promise of what it could be like. I found the ending to be uplifting, and I'd heartily recommend it. 8/10

How to Rob a Bank

This movie was brilliant. Some poor shmuck who can't withdraw his last 20 dollars because of service fees on the ATM has to go to the bank to get it it out. Unfortunately he walks in on a robbery, and ends up taking cover in the bank vault, which closes and locks him in with one of the robbers, who is smokin' hot. He ends up playing phone tag with the police and the robbers. Great movie.

Just took my daughter to see The Karate Kid. It was great. It's amazing how much of Will Smith you can see in Jayden. He's really got some charisma, on screen. Jackie Chan was a great supporting actor as well. There was nothing really hokey or gimmicky about the movie. It was actually better than I thought it would be. It was funny, had some good action (though I think there could have been more, seeing as how the movie was over 2.5 hours), and there was a part involving Jackie Chan where I honestly could have cried.

Overall: 7.5 / 10
As kids' movies go: 8.5 / 10

Prince if Persia
it was good, and I'd recommend it.

I just went and saw Karate Kid. OMG! It deserves to be ranked very highly as the crew/cast was excellent!!! Jayden Smith is one little talented youngster. I remember when the original Karate Kid came out and how much I enjoyed it, but this one far outweighs the 80's version. I will definitely be purchasing the DVD when it comes out in stores.

The original King Kong from 1933. I really enjoyed watching this classic for the first time. It really holds up considering its age and is very entertaining.

Kings go forth- 1958 Black and white WWII movie staring Frank Sinatra and Tony Curtis. I was randomly channel surfing, and couldn't' stop watching it.

Nightmare Detective - Bad movie. Yes it's "about" dreaming, yes it's an interesting idea, but no it was not made very well. Some bad acting, bizarre music (for the context of the scenes), and seems like a poor script too. Though, on that last point, it might have been a case of bad subtitles, I don't know - I don't know Japanese, so *shrug*

In any case, it's only one for those who are really keen on watching movies involving dreams. And even then, that aspect isn't really explored in any detail.

Book of Eli--post-apocalicious :D The plot was more than a little ridiculous, but Denzel was fun to watch, the setting was enjoyable and I ♥ Mila Kunis.

Saw Toy Story 3 on Tuesday. It was better than I thought it would be when I saw the first full trailer last year. Much better. I haven't had such a fun time in a theater in a long time. I love Pixar. 8/10

I just now finished watching Christopher Nolan's Following (thanks to DuB for the heads up in his thread where you can find the link). Nolan really has a knack for unconventional storytelling that keeps you on your toes. This was his first full-length film, and displays what he's capable of and foreshadows his later success. I can't wait for Inception! 8.5/10

I saw The Eye of the Tiger staring Gary Busey. The movie opens with "The eye of the tiger" song, then Gary kills around 60 people towards the end. He punches the last guy and "The eye of the tiger" song play's immediately after. The death toll at the end makes up for the move.

"The A-Team", it was so boring.. I was just waiting for it to end.

The Godfather.....I can't believe I waited ? years before I finally decided to see it.

How to Train Your Dragon

Loved it.

Hm...I saw Paranormal Activity last night. It was a good movie, but it wasn't really scary. The end was scary though.

Pandorum

2 guys wake from cryo-sleep on a space ship and find themselves seemingly alone. Throw is some cannibal space mutants and let the good times roll. Pandorum in the movie refers to a type of space madness. Not bad.


The Hangover

Meh. Introduce some crazy thing the characters don't remember doing and have them react to it, then keep doing that over and over. Gets old fast.

REC 2, what an awesome movie, better than the first one. I can't wait for the next one.

The Machinist. Wow that movie fucked with my mind, a lot. It was great to watch, and to see the whole psychotic aspect of it develop.

Toy Story 3.
I cried along with half the other people in the theatre, but it was a very good movie.

Toy Story 3 - Love it!

Shutter Island - ****SPOILER****When I saw the previews, I was like "ok it better not end up being that he is actually a patient!" And ofcourse it ends up that he is a patient. But the way the whole movie was made, even the music (very Kubrick styled) I still enjoyed it, good job Scorcesse. I still wish the ending was more original.

Revolutionary Road - Wow, really good, but depressing.

Robin Williams "Weapons of Mass Destruction" - Not a movie, but if you like stand up, this is hilarious!!

Precious - I was so grossed out most of the movie it was hard to enjoy, but I loved the indy style of it.

I thought the first one was pretty good, but this one is awful! The acting sucks, the sound effects are horrible, the creatures aren't scary, and you can clearly see that all the blood spilled in this movie is corn syrup.
