Thread: Marvel Movie News

The future is going to be pretty busy for Marvel Movies. I'll be posting here periodically with new news that I come across on their upcoming projects, and the interweaving of said projects into the Avengers movie.

First:
Sony and Marvel Studios Set New Release Dates

Don Cheadle is going to replace Terrence Howards role in Iron Man 2. Kinda messed up for howard, but I can actually see Cheadle as war machine. Terrence Howard just seems like he's more cut out to be Bishop or Iron Fist.

ughhh.. I'm not a fan of Don Cheadle. I am sooooo psyched for Captain America, and have been for years. Now it's finally comming up....

notice they have nothing planned for after 2012.... LOL.

Edward Norton wont play the Hulk in the Avengers movie.

I can't say that that surprises me. As much as I love Ed Norton, I really wasn't all too crazy about him as Bruce Banner, to be completely honest. Something just didn't feel right.

But I wonder who they will get to take his place. Do you know?

Mark Ruffalo is going to be the new hulk. Also Andrew Garfield is going to be in the new Spider-Man movie.

Hmmmm Chirs Evans!? Human Torch Chris Evans? *in a doctor doom voice* Hopefully this means the end of the Fantastic Four! But seriously, I really, I think Mark Valley would have made a great Captain America. But of course, the story is probably going to be based off his origins and what not, so they want someone who look's younger.

As for Spider-man, I'm not sure what they're doing. I don't know if it's going to be part 4 or a retelling of the original story. Either way, Sony still has their hands in it, so I'm not expecting it to be to much.

Just saw the Spider-Man outfit, and it's looking laaaaame. The web pattern doesn't even resemble a web except for around his gloves.

Wait, Spider Man 4? I thought they were doing a reboot, not a continuation.

Yes, they're doing a reboot and not continuing the trilogy.

As for the new spiderman outfit, I love it! I do have to say, though, it doesn't look too much like the "official" one from the comics (I've never opened a comic book, but I do tend to look stuff up).

As for the Avengers, the absence of Norton is a disappointment because in my opinion, he was the persona of Bruce Banner. Mark doesn't look anything like the character and, unless he can pull it off well, it's going to be a fail.

The only movies I want to see as of late are spiderman and maybe captain america.

I'm kinda looking forward to a Spiderman reboot, I didn't really like 2 and 3 so I wasn't looking forward to a 4. Hopefully they make it a little gritter than the previous films.

Speaking of comic adaptions - let's not forget about Todd's Spawn guys. The movie and the animation are coming really soon. He said so like a decade ago.

He's the last character I would want in a movie, and that's including a movie about Squirrel Girl. "Waterworld 2" immediately springs to mind from just listening to that.

As for Spider-man starting over...that's just silly...everyone knows how he got his powers, and that story has already been told. Take Batman for instance; when the original movie came out (no, not the Adam west stuff for people old enough to remember that Adam West starred in a movie adaptation of the show) he didn't have a origin story. He just came out kicking ass and taking names, and then they threw in a couple of flash backs. Batman Begins made a good choice for doing the origins part, because no one was introduced to that aspect on the silver screen. Also, I think Spider-mans origin was done close enough to the comic that it wouldn't need a story unless they throw in the darker stuff like Gwen Stacy actually dying and introducing Mary Jane later. (which I doubt they'll do, because it seems like everything movie related is based off the ultimate universe and whatever the eff hollywood want's to do anyways.)


And now moving on to something different. Natalie Portman is going to be in the new Thor movie that opens May 6th.

The only thing they really need to explain is why he has web-shooters, this time (which I believe you can see in the pic), instead of organic webbing.

My guess would be that they're doing it so they can sell web slingers as toys again. Of course I could say "to beef up his origin story a bit more", but lets face it, this is Sony we're talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if they advertised this movie through Mcdonalds and Burger King at the same time.

I still haven't seen the trailer yet. I wasn't too much of a Thor fan anyway, so I'm not expecting much. I'll just consider it my fantastic four part three.

Edit: As for catwoman...I would really like for them to just not make another one until she makes some sort of cameo in a batman movie. Also I hope they actually find people who know how to make movies, to make catwoman this go round. And why hasn't Wonder Woman had her own movie yet? And when they finally get around to making it, they need to include a bonus DVD of entire casting tryouts for her role....um....maybe I should stop myself now.

I saw that too, on IMDb just now.

I'm not a big fan of Hathaway's performances though, so I'm afraid she might bring the movie down a few notches.

Okay, I just saw the Thor and Captain America previews. Thor looks like a special effects fest that I'll probably want to watch on blue ray, but I'll see it in theaters cause Natalie Portman is in it. Captain America looks like it's staying true to it's storyline...I doubt we'll see bucky though. I also like that slick 40's style they're using in there. O you were right, Chirs Evans looks like he'll be able to pull off a more serious roll.

Also, WTF? Am I trippin, or do I keep seeing Nick Fury in the I Am Number Four trailer?? Is anybody else setting that? They never show his face, and you just kind of see him from dramatic angles. Bald black guy in a black trench coat and an eye patch wrapped around his head. I mean WTF??

I watched Pulp Fiction the other day too - all I could see was Nick Fury because I hadn't seen him in any other role before.

I don't know...I can't tell you where that might tie into the story...I don't know too much about Nick Fury. I used to think he worked with the Punisher when I was little because of his outfit. It would be interesting to see him in there though.

Learn a few quotes like "Yes they deserve to die, and I hope they burn in hell!" or "That is a tasty burger" and type "LOL" whenever I use them in chat.
