Natural Selection 2

For anyone who doesn't know what Natural Selection is, it is a multiplayer FPS/RTS modification for Half-Life. Think Star Craft + Half-Life. It's still being played today, and it's going good.

The creator(s) of the first Natural Selection have gotten together to make Natural Selection 2. What was once a Half-Life 2 mod, is now being made into a full stand-alone game.

The creator's of NS2 (Unknown Worlds Entertainment) will be visiting PAX to show off the game. So if anyone is going to that, PLEASE TO GOD RECORD IT!

But I don't really like FPS. FPS is for losers; if you want some serious gaming, then get your butt on some RPG.

Do you like Starcraft?

Never played it, but I tend not to like futuristic games. Medieval does it very well for me.

Yeah boys, let's sit down for 12 hours on end and play some RPG. RPG'll make us cool. Way more so than stupid, lame FPS. No way, FPS is for stupid kids with ADD who like taking advantage of checkpoints so they can stop and "experience the real world". Come on guys, let's go have sex with our wives in Fable 2. After all, virtual sex with a non-existent avatar of an unrealistically beautiful human female is way better than getting laid for rawlz.

lolz.

i dont think most people have the attention span to play rpgs. i bought Oblivion, sat down for about 30 minutes to play it, and was like, "...no..."
the only one i have ever played through was KOTOR, which was awesome.

and if you have never played starcraft...i dont even know what to say to you.

I meant to say RTS/FPS, not RPG/FPS.

Hmm. Let us then just go play RPGs. RPGs are cool because you can team up in two super-realistic factions, take guns that police elites dream of using, and just walk around, shooting at each other, as that is such a normal and routinely thing to do. Also, when we get shot, even if a few dozen times, we will still be standing up and running, exactly like in real life. We will be so cool, and everyone will fear us, because being good at shooting on a game probably means we're good with real guns too. It's especially fun, because you keep doing such different and varied things: kill your pals, die, rinse and repeat.

My point being? RPG never aims at realism. FPS does - and it sucks at it.

I know, but I've been playing Natural Selection for a couple of years now, and I have no idea why I called it an RPG/FPS...
