      Sylar's morals (from Heroes)

Sylar is a very conflicted character.

He is obviously evil, but strangely demonstrates on occasions that he has a good side.

For instance, Sylar kills people. But this is because he needs to study their brains to get their ability, and this facilitates their death. He didn’t remove Claire’s brain, he left it in, studied it, then replaced the top of her skull so that she could heal. Albeit a weak example perhaps, this shows that he won’t kill the person if they don’t have to die or have something done to them that would make them die in order for him to study their brains.

Another example: Sylar eats people's brains. This is sick and twisted, and verrrry evil. But wait! No, he doesn’t! Claire asked him if he was going to eat her brain when he removed the top of her skull, and he replied, "Eat your brain? Claire, that's disgusting." Many fans have suggested that the reason for the removal of his victim’s brains is so that he can have them with him to study in-depth at a safe location away from the crime. It also appears that he only needs to study the brain to be able to unlock the same ability in his own (as heavily evidenced by his encounter with Claire).

Also, he wrote “Forgive me for I have sinned,” and segments of that same phrase, all over a wall of his apartment. This may just be his insanity showing, but it also may express that he is sorry that he must kill his victims in order to gain their abilities.

On the other hand to all of this,

      Sylar is evil.

      What say you?
