      Your favorite electronic music

For some reason I could never appreciate instrumental music. My first real idols were The Prodigy when I was ten. Then when I was 11 there were the Chemical Brothers and since then my music taste kept developing towards the alternative electronic music. There was a period when I was 14-15 that I was into drum'n bass, especially Pendulum back then.

When I became 16 I discovered Amon Tobin, still my favorite artist, he makes all kinds of music with samples. He is a master at sampling, most of his sampleswere recorded by him. He uses the weirdest sounds in his music like ants scraping on foil. There isn't any artist similar to him, his music is authentic. Some people compare him with DJ Shadow but they don't sound the same, there are allot of differences. I also first bought the splinter cell soundtrack by him and bought the game afterwards, normally it should be vice versa.

      some music by him:

      some dreamy music:

      That's it for now!

strange, I also wanted to place those 2 here and why do I find this strange? Because I don't have a broad taste of music I only like about 10-15 artists. Venetian snares is so awesome!!! Squarepusher too of course, Hello Everything is my favorite album.

Apart from stuff that most people appreciate like Aphex Twin etc. I really love Dubstep. I listen to dubstep.fm and they always have good stuff on, especially with Dank Dealz.

I don't have many favorites in that area, but Rumblejunkie would probably be one of them.
He made Dope Angel which is still the sexiest/most erotic song I've heard to this day.

      Rumblejunkie on Virb.com

He also made a song "How You Lose a Dream" but he took it off his site, it was impressive. Hope I can get my hands on that some day.

      further:

I'm also IN LOVE with autechre, especially the CD 'incunabula'.
Autechre make more basic electronic music but they're unique in their own way, it's all so dreamy. I get sentimental when I listen to autechre, there are these specific emotions that are put in this music. I feel loneliness, warmth, grief and some familiar nostalgic feeling and imagery in my brain.

I'm someone who gets images in his head when he listens certain music. These images are just photographs from partially real memories, partially fictional things like this car in the middle of a rainy field, the view from the bottom of a mountain, a bald tree in a snowy field.

I love different kinds of electronica, for different reasons. I like the more technical stuff like Squarepusher and Amon Tobin for the sheer complexity and instrumentation, but I love to dance, so my heart really lies with big, phat beats. I couldn't really touch on everything I like, but here are just a few of the kinds of tracks I love the most.

      The Prodigy - Breathe:

      Hybrid - Finished Symphony:

      Hybrid - If I Survive:

Sasha and John Digweed - Out of Body Experience (Rabbit in the Moon mix)

And one of my own music videos - this is a remix to the Crystal Method song "Trip Like I Do", which had no lyrics, but I really like this collaboration with Filter:

I also have some of my own breakbeat mixes up, which have a lot of kickass tracks on them. Feel free to check 'em out and see if there is anything you like.

      Another one of my favorites.
Fade - No Resolve (Nu Tribe Mix):

This is from the album Orlando Breakz vol. 2 by DJ Rob-E. Both volume 1 and 2 are legendary. Get them both, if you haven't heard them.

      does anyone else like:

Manitoba (aka Caribou) - my personal favorite; I have no idea what they use to create their songs, but whatever it is it's some of the most beautiful and eclectic electronic noise imaginable; highly-recommended as sleep music. look up the song "Hendrix with Ko"

The Books - field-recordings mashed with soundclips of tv and radio and other random shite, with the addition of a cello; miraculously melodic for being noise. the album Lost And Safe is a concept about a man who's lived isolated on a mountain his whole life, then comes down to experience modern society for the first time. look up the song "Enjoy Your Worries, You May Never Have Them Again"

Animal Collective - sounds like music made by native tribes or by aliens, with indiscernable lyrics, extreme vocal-layering, and strange instruments; good for a mushroom trip. look up the song "Leaf House"

Treewave - an obscure band that uses computer sounds and sounds from vintage viodeogame consoles like Atari to make music; their website offers free mp3s. look up the song "May Banners"

Broken Social Scene - eclectic style and samplings, and a mix of conventional and strange instruments, sounds like the beach for some reason; highly-recommended as sleep music. look up the song "lover's spit"

M83 - static-y and feedback-y, but melodic and eclectic; sounds like flying through outerspace. look up the song "Run Into Flowers"

Hood - down-tempo and lyric-driven, but with strange samples and noises laced with fuzz and static. look up the song "The Lost You"

Matmos - like The Books, these guys make music using nothing but field-recordings and soundclips; they do concept albums based on the kinds of noises used (i.e. - "A Chance To Cut Is A Chance To Cure" uses the sounds of plastic surgery- and other medical-instruments, and "The Civil War" uses the sounds of weapons, antique period instruments, etc.) look up the song "Lipostudio...And So On"

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - fuzzy and eclectic lo-fi, made with random 50's/60's/70's music soundclips, vocals done over answering machines, and mouth-percussion; very unique. look up the song "Life In L.A."

Not your typical electronica, but good nonetheless, in my opinion. I also like The K-Pax soundtrack, but I don't know anything about it.Anyone have similar electronic interests?

I like all kinds of electronic music, but I always come back to 80s synth pop.

Something about those synths just can't be beat by more polished sounds I hear today.

However, I also love classic 90s/early millennium trance. This one is a rocking orgasmic one, among my pure favorites...

And then there's this 8 bit Japanese electronic stuff I absolutely love:

And this I'll just describe as FJKSGHIRUOPASTH43IWPN53IUO4

      You forgot Champion, no-Name

He basically samples a lot of different instruments and throws some great stuff together. He only has 2 albums, but all of it is great.

Man, just checked out she, and his music is amazing. Don't listen to it on YouTube though, shite quality.

      Cool thread.

I've just been getting into electronic music lately. I'm ot familiar with too much stuff but I'll post a few that I like (most were discovered on Burning Man video compilations )

Talisman & Hudson - Leaving Planet Earth original mix is cool, but I like this remix, right when it hits towards the end I just think it sounds so cool:

Booka Shade - Night Falls HOUSE. I'll be honest, I like this partly because of the synth bass tone. That lead is pretty cool too, and that stop-gap halfway through:

The Presets - Talk Like That here's a nice groove:

Timo Maas - To Get Down I love the way the guitar is mixed in, very nice overall:

Tiesto - Adagio for strings Now THIS is some quality trance. Not much else I can say, I just love the way he reworks this piece. As a sice note, I couldn't imagine DJing for that size gig, that must be rdiculous:

Skrillex - Rock 'n Roll Must admit, I've not heard much Skrillex, and I used to think he was kinda overrated, untill I heard this. Say what you want about dubstep, but this song is SICK:

There's just a few off the top of my head. More dance-oriented stuff, but I've just been hearing a lot of that lately, so naturally that's what would come to mind first.

Still relatively new to this whole realm of music, so if anyone wants to make any reccomendations, I'm all ears.
