I am reading Tetrarch (Well of Echoes) Really good book. What are you reading?
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
It's been a while, so I figured I'd read it.
The Glass Bead Game by Herman Hesse. It's a little slow, but interesting so far.
Witches Abroad, by Terry Pratchett. (bought it months ago, and hadn;t had a chance to read it wioth all the library books)
I'm not reading anything.
I can't remember ever being in a position where I could say "I'm not reading anything".
I put aside time to read every day, and have always one or two books on the go at any one time.
I've read the whole internet.
Journey To The West by Wu Cheng'en (written in the 16th century)
"The Silver Chair" by C.S. Lewis. Haven't read it for for 5 years!
Also, "How To Cure A Fanatic" by Amos Oz.
Mort - Terry Pratchett
Dark Tower, Wolves of the Calla by Stephen King, North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell and The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Writings by Edgar Allan Poe.
Three is more than I'd like to be reading at one time. Also an imbalance of Victoriana. And of Americana. Depends which way you look at it.
Crime and Punishment
The Prince of Nothing: The Darkness that Comes Before
Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan and Catch-22 by Joseph Heller.
Knight Out. It's a really cruddy late-80s book about King Arthuir beign brought back from Avalon by an adolescent Merlin, and then running for Mayor, with Morgan Le Fay and the reincarnations of Lancelot (now a slob) and Guinevere (now a secretary) thrown into the mix. It's stupid, but I can;t stop reading.
The Lost World - Michael Crichton
Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts- The first one in a trilogy. Damn, I hate starting series. >.<!
Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen King. It's a whole bunch of little stories, so it's easy to read with another book.
And Singer to the Sea God by Vivien Alcock. I've read it a couple times before and right now I'm reading it to my mother. I'm pretty fond of that one for some reason or another!
Oh! Has anyone heard of the Myth books by Robert Aspirin? What's your opinion of it (I haven't read it)?
1984 by George Orwell, I highly recommend it to all who haven't read it.
Very good book about totalitarianism and the "future".
John Dies at the End for the 4rth time. Hilarious stuff.
harry potter and the deathly hallows
and
desperation
and
the killing hour
but right now i'm reading none of the three and i've seemed to have lost the killing hour.. >:[
I'm currently juggling
Marx in Soho - Howard Zinn
Their Eyes Were Watching God - Zora Neale Hurston (Summer Reading, bleh. Good book so far though.)
And I'm working my way through the mental labyrinth of Lovecraft, sort of trying to piece together the Mythos.
Atlas Shrugged
I've heard that an excellent novel...im planning on reading foutainhead.
But atm im reading stranger in a strange land by the great Hienlien (i love him so much). I got the uncut version and its actually longer than atlas shrugged.
But god its an amazing book. Not only is it entertaining but its god his typical HOLY SHIT philopshy that is just so mind blowing.
House of Leaves
Yeah i want to read The Fountainhead when i'm done with Atlas Shrugged as i've heard very good things about it. Stranger in a Strange Land looks really good as well. Thanks for mentioning it!
Omicron - i want to read that book so bad! :D
oh god stranger in a strange land is so amazing! But you have to get the uncut version.
Besides I love how he mixes philophy with pure awesomeness. I mean ayn rand is good but her don't have enough awesomeness, sex, and craziness.
Although I must say that my absolute favorite book is snow crash. It's such an amazing book. I can't even begin to describe it. The philosophy is purely mind blowing and the plot is great. Besides it is just the funnest book ive ever read. the main character is called "Hiro Protaganist".
Nathaniels Nutmeg. Awesome book on the historical account of the spice race of the 1700s. England would send out fleets of ships and only a handfull would return and sometimes with little spice for profit. The rest would die from disease, war with the dutch, and head hunters. They found one ship trying to find a northern passage, they got shipwrecked in the cold. they had to fight off bears and stuff. when they were found everyone was completely frozen to death in the middle of doing something. One man was opening a cupboard and another was sitting in a chair drinking something. just frozen solid like that.
I'm reading some book called "Then there was none..."
It's not very good...the beginning was very confusing...
Atomised by Michel Houellebecq
Instant Self-Hypnosis by: Forbes Robbins Blair
-For inducing LD's
The Ranger Handbook.
Also SOG - Secret wars of America's Commandos in Vietnam.
And I love the Dune series.
Ahh long list...
Tom Sawyer..
Wild acre..
Sese and senseability..
Weathering hieghts..
The bible..
Spiritaul guide to dreaming and life..
Yeah that's all.
Ah forgot one..Lost souls..Really good book about life in "Southie", Boston when Whitey was big, sad and yet still very interesting.
How do you read something and not know how to spell it's name?
In fact I call Bullshit on anyone who calls "Wuthering Heights" "Weathering heights".
Also: "Sense and Sensibility"
Oh, and "Spiritual Guide to Dreaming and Life" doesn't actually exist.
What's the point of lying on the internet? Really.
...hehe owned
PS: Just finished reading Stranger in a strange land last night....damn it was good :)
best book ive ever read
State of fear - Michael Chrichton
It's about global warming, and it gives a much more accurate picture of what global warming is. Very interesting book if you like the environment.
At the moment I'm reading Kingdom of Fear by Hunter S. Thompson, really good so far.
Anyne who is a Hunter fan should read this book, it's like his memoirs but in his style :)
Woe Is I by Patricia T. O'Connor
And I just finished The Old Man and the Sea. It was... okay.
You don't have to believe me but I am reading Wuthering Heights so screw off.
What do you find interesting about bothering people?
Is it fun to you? Do you enjoy bothering and upseting people?
Just because I spelt something wrong makes me a lier?
Right,and youre perfect?
Are you kidding, Omicron? You must just be having a laugh. Please tell me you are. Honestly, you don't see how somebody could mistakenly type "Weathering" instead of "Wuthering"? I mistype completely incorrect words all the time when i'm not concentrating on what i'm typing. My fingers sometimes have a mind of their own and just hit familiar keys.
You're either looking for a rise (in which case, congratulations) or you're scratching for something to be bitter and cynical about.
insecurity?
but seriously i miss spell stuff all the time. On forums i could care less about grammar and all that. I am not righting a high school essay I am just trying to express my views about certain topics.
So can all the grammar/spelling gestapo calm down.
This is a place to have fun not flame, troll, and nit pick.
Breaking Open The Head- Daniel Pinchbeck
Reading:
Nietzsche, thus spoke zarathustra - because Nietzsche is a pimp
Dennet, Conciousness explained - because Dennet is a pimp
that sounds like some pretty high level philosophy my nig.
I'm go blow some caps in here if people don't start talking about objectivism.
I finished reading Watchmen a few days ago. I'm stoked for the move now!:D
New Moon by Stephanie Meyer
Good omens: The Nife and Accurate Profefies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. The apocalypse and the coming of the Antichrist are fortold in the world's only perfectly accurate book of predictions. Three hundred and fifty years after its writing, and eleven years after the birth of the Antichrist, a demon (good complex), an angel (friends with the demon), a witch (decended from the prophetess), an assistant witch hunter (in love with the witch), and the Four Horsemen and Four Others On Motorcycles of the Apocalyse are involved. It's incredibly humorous, and thought-provoking. I'm nowhere near one of the more rabid fans, but I would definitely sufggest the book to anyone who like Terry Pratchett, or the movie Dogma.
Im currently reading "The Ancient Secrets of the Flower of Life" by Drunvalo.
Anything involving discussion of the New Age is most interesting.
"Showdown" by Ted Dekker
Just finished the Tales of The Otori Prequal: Heaven's net is wide. Almost finished Stephen King's Insomnia.
Maps in a Mirror by Orson Scott Card. I cannot get enough of that guy.
Is Manga considered a book? Just wondering. If it is, then I'm reading Chibi Vampire. If not, then I'm reading the Blackstone Chonocles. Good books. It's a series of 6 books, but they are each only over 100 pages long. I'm on the 4 book.
After the success of House of Leaves, Now reading Language, truth and logic by A J Ayer.
currently reading two books: the tenth circle by jodie picoult and eclipse by stephanie meyer.
Also reading this war trilogy called regeneration trilogy but im having a break from that at the moment.
I just finished "Showdown" the day before yesterday. Good book with a great twist (though I started to see what was going on before they actually revealed the twist). It makes me want to start writing more often.
Now I'm reading "The Welkening." Not bad so far. It's more of a young-adult fiction, but I've found some great YA authors. It's refreshing to not have to worry about a bunch of junk popping up and ruining the storyline and characters. It's refreshing :)
I'm currently reading Piers Anthony's Killobyte. About two separate individuals, a diabetic girl and a paraplegic ex-cop who meet in an online virtual reality game with different games and settings. A hacker locks the cop in the game right before he realizes the force-feedback shock from dying interferes witrh his pacemaker, and they have to defeat the hacker without him dying again in the game (rereading).
I also just started Myth-chief by Robert Aspirin. Skeeve comes out of retirement, and just started a busness that may interfere with MYTH-inc. I haven't read any more, because my mom took the book to read, which will take her somewhere between three weeks and the rest of eternity.
Im reading 1984. Ive heard too much about it so I had to read it lol. Great concept, but its funny that its 2008 and it hasnt happened (or has it  )
Hamlet - Shakespeare
James Joyce- Finnegan's Wake
Lawrenche LeShan - How To Meditate
Carlos Castaneda - The Teachings of Don Juan
Robert B. Cialdini - Influence, science and practice
(I tend to read more books at once because with just one I get bored quickly.)
Twilight. My cousin had been bothering me for months too read it, and more recently my stepsister, and it's actually turned out far more interesting that I'd expected. Less supernatural, but also less relationshippy stuff.
I loved it...:)
