Thread: D&D

If you've never done it before, the best way to start is to get a couple friends together who've never done it either, get the core book and give it a go. A lot of new players can get easily turned off from table top rpg's by the hardcore gamers who will argue about stupid bullshit and can't just have fun with it. Its something that can be really entertaining or utterly unenjoyable depending on how laid back the people you play with are. Also, I wouldn't recommend finding a pre-existing club; a lot of D+D dorks don't really have much else in their lives to feel special about and so they develop an elitist attitude in the fantasy land of rpg's which isn't very good for new comers to be exposed to.

Apocalypse was on purpous, mankind i just screwed up on. Instead of people asking me alot, i figured, why not change them both.

I think I had around 30 different books of rules, tables, charts and such in the end.

Takes a couple of years of playing to get to the point where you can grab up the right book and open it to just the right place to find what you need to find.

You can play with as little or as much attention to detail as you want.

We played a little loosley in regards to reality damage. IE Character falls off a 80' cliff and hits the ground with only 1 hit point left. Ahhhhh, cough cough, stands up brushes themselves off, cast a few of cure light wounds, take a couple of potions of healing , laugh it off and go again.

ICE LAW, now thats rule intensive vs D&D with more realistic damage taken. Your character doesn't just walk away from a 80' fall in that game.

It's very complicated. YAY CONSOLES!

Well, my friends and I bought all the stuff we needed yersterday, and we spent most of last night creating basic characters and setting figuring ou the rules >.< We started playing today though, and it was pretty fun! Def. worth the effort.

The way I found out about D&D was actually through computer games that were based on the D&D universe. One of my favorite of these was Neverwinter Nights. You could create your own worlds, DM them, or play as a player on other servers. My favorite was always being the DM. I love epic stories and plot development. As much as I enjoy being a player, being a DM grants so many possibilities for players. The game itself was so much fun as you actually saw and interacted with a changing world. The sequel of Neverwinter Nights is out, too.

I could indulge you on a lot of plots I did on servers I administrated. It was unbelievably fun!

I like my RPG's epic with a side of plot development .
