If you've never done it before, the best way to start is to get a couple friends together who've never done it either, get the core book and give it a go. A lot of new players can get easily turned off from table top rpg's by the hardcore gamers who will argue about stupid bullshit and can't just have fun with it. Its something that can be really entertaining or utterly unenjoyable depending on how laid back the people you play with are. Also, I wouldn't recommend finding a pre-existing club; a lot of D+D dorks don't really have much else in their lives to feel special about and so they develop an elitist attitude in the fantasy land of rpg's which isn't very good for new comers to be exposed to. |
