I think it would be cool. I've always wanted to do that.

I've done it. Its a very fun sport I must say, sometimes it's very hot in the outfit though. There are 3 types of swords, each has different rules.

First one is the long poking sword which I used. The rules are simple you can poke everywhere even the feet of your opponent and you get a point.

Another one is a short poking sword. The rules here are a bit more complicated as far as I know you only get a point if you hit the torso. You also get a cool electrical chainmail outfit that connects to a device that shows hits.

The 3rd type of sword I did not see, but I heard that its a sword that you can slash with instead of poking. I don't know the rules for it.

As a kid I loved swords and armor and stuff so it was a very fun sport for me.

The swords are also electrical they have a button on top to prevent injuries and show hits.

If you gonna go for it don't forget to get balls armor. It's painful to get a poke there.

Here is a link to see the 3 types of swords and their correct names and rules.

I used to fence in college and for a bit after. It's a lot of work, but very fun. It's also great exercise. I learned with the foil, which is probably the easiest.

It's been a very long time since I tried to fence, but the leg muscles I built during that time are still there.

Technically there is a fourth type of sword called a Rapier, but the rules and techniques are nearly identical to Epee so no one does it. I've done european fencing as well as eastern sword fighting and think it's a lot of fun. My favourite is Epee, and it's good for beginners since the rules are fairly simple and so are the techniques. Sabre is by far the hardest, I forget all the rules, but the most important is that you can not score by initiating contact, only on a counter strike, and only after a proper perry. If you're interested in slashing techniques I would recommend eastern styles instead.

Most fencing uniforms are nice and thick, so you don't need any extra armour for your groin

My Ex did fencing. Needless to say, her thighs were delicious. That could be attributed to her being a dancer as well though

I've always wanted to fence. I'd say if it interests you, go for it! It'll help out with your reaction time and leg strength, plus you'd just kick ass!

I have had a difficult time deciding between fencing and kendo. However, I ultimately like kendo more. Simply because of the discipline and nature of the message through it.

However, I must still note that I really admire those that are good at fencing. Kendo is also a bit more contrived and regimented (which is truly part of the ideal) whereas fencing allows more leeway and breathing room.

If you can do either; I highly suggest whichever has the more appropriate teacher for you as the teacher truly makes the class.
