I hated the film! There are things the author does with words that just can't be translated on film. |

Right, two things here. |

loved the books, but didn't see the movie |

No, the film is not horrible. It's good, honestly. People are just bullshitting because they're into 300 and Meet The Fockers. Basically, people are just too snobby to accept the laid back movie that hasn't really got 100 stars. |

JDea.... huh??? |

The movie was... Okay. |
|
I thought the movie was pretty good, in the sense that everything looked pretty much exactly as I imagined it would based on having read the book (with the exception of the ending, but what can you do). |
|
Do not spoil the ending, as I have yet to read up untill the end. When I was reading the book, it rambled on so much that I lost concentration and I didn't understand anything. |

This is not the reason people dislike the film. I have no idea where the 300 and Meet the Fockers references came from, either. |
|
Ok well I suppoe you have some good points there, but I thought it was great. I mean, if you filter out the writer and the previous versions, I'm sure anyone would think it's an alright film. |

What he said, though the movie did capture Douglas Adams's style a lot better than I had anticipated, when I first heard about the movie. A few things, like Marvin the Paranoid Android, really were dead on. Others, however, were way off. Overall, it was a movie I'd see again, even after already seeing it twice. But then there is no limit to how many times I could read the books over. |

I had to take a reading test on the book. I lost it and watched the film instead |

I did that but the other way round, saw bits of the series, then I saw the film. Then I read the book and thought it was too complex. He rambled so much I lost track |

People tend to say the film was bad because it was nowhere near as good as the original material. The film in my opinion was mediocre and the plot made no sense at all, alongside butchering most of Adam's characters and sense of humour. The first version I heard was the radio series, which I thought was incredible. |

Hogfather? Didn't work. Which was a shame. |
|
Yeah, and Arthur Dent was pretty spot on, although that was probably due in part to his doing the voice in the radio series... |
|
i liked the book imensly! such great humor (of the dry, british variety)(just kidding) i sooooooo wish that i could fall and forget to hit the ground! |

British humour is good, I'll admit. |

I'm not even going to ask what the difference is between the two comedy types. But I will say that I hate american sitcoms, they're too cheesy. |

I love some American sitcoms, i hate other ones. I've seen some british sitcoms and i do find them funny. I wonder how different the British "Office" is? The American one is my favorite sitcom besides Scrubs, and it's based off the British one, so i definately gotta check it out. Has anyone seen the two? |
|
American Office lacks Ricky Gervais. That's all I need to know. |
