FF 76 would have to be my fav
Legend of the Red Dragon. I give it an 8 out of 10, even though it was text based using only rudimentary ASCII graphics.
Possibly the very first multiplayer rpg ever, in the days before the internet came along. Back in my day, we didn't have no stinkin' internet, we used BBS's, and we liked it!
I miss Olivia the severed head. She's give you all she had, which was in fact all she was! I've come out of the forest acting chipper on more than one occasion.;)
ever play "Dungeon Man" from www.homestarrunner.com? entirelly text based, i don't know if you can beat it, and there is two versions, on ein green, no pix, one in yellow, with pix.
4/10 though... but u txt basers might like it!
FF7
Oblivion
Deus Ex (FPS><RPG fusion!)
I have to give these all 10s. They were some of my best gaming experiences ever.
I never liked Oblivion too much(yes, it had friggen sweet graphics, but I look for more in a game)but I did like Morrowind.
Definetly Deus Ex, what I'm currently playing the most. Not INvisible War, just plain Deus Ex.
Chrono Trigger, the best SNES RPG EVER!
Dungeons and Dragons, the board game. First RPG ever recorded and published(i'm pretty sure)and endless possibilities.
AnsalonMUD, a MUD, which is a multiplayer text game.
Lost Wishes, another MUD.
Legends and Lore, another MUD.
Domination Tactics, a little board game I made up. I may post the rules on my web site some time.
FF8. I like every Final Fantasy game pretty much, but 8 was my favorite. All my friends say it was their least favorite, but I don't think so.
Life. No, not the board game, I mean real life. Life is just like a role playing game, except when you die or get hurt, you die or get hurt!
Shining Force
I got a copy for PC.... great memories with my friend a long time ago.
Probably Hengband/Entroband due to sheer depth and replayability. 9.4/10 I'd say.
Takes a bit (ok a lot) of getting used to, but it's a very rewarding experience.
Vampire; The Requiem
Xenogears
FF6
What? hasn't anyone else played FF76?
Best game of all time. Too bad the universe imploded soon after its launch.
I thought FF76 was a typo of FF7 or FF6. What the hell is FF76? They're only at 13. And the release date hasn't even been announced.
Final Fantasy 7 > All Other RPG's
A real RPG that I love: Rifts.

~
Then please, enlighten the underprivaledged and tell us about FF76.
FF76 and 77 were pretty good, but FF78 (Squall's Revenge) was crap.
FF7
FF9
Sukoden 1, 2, 3
Chrono Trigger
KotOR 1, 2 (soon to be added 3)
Chrono Cross
If we can say Final Fantasy games go with FFVII, VIII, X, X-II and XII, hehe.
I played Adventure Quest RPG once, it was a complete pile of crap.
Also may I add that FFX is still my favourite game ever in the world?
I dont want to bash other people's favorite RPGs but Oblivion was one of the biggest letdowns I ever got into. It'd probably be my top if it wasn't hyped so much though.
I like KOTOR original, too. Nothing makes you feel more like a badass than realizing you're the amnesiac induced dark lord of the sith.
my favorit RPG?? that's a hard one. It's between Mass Effect (which just came out) and Chrono Cross (came out a long time ago. It was for the original Playstation)...... I can't cecide between them. I'd give both a 9.8 though. And both would also be my nominees for best game ever.
Damn straight lul.
I loved Oblivion graphics...
Though i personally think the story was such a letdown.
I kept myself company with that nifty editor that can be downloaded from their site though :P
At least someone except from me knows what CC was ^__^
IMO better than FF7... xP
morrowind had the "magical" enviroment, and very warm "old" music that it made the game even more "morrowindic :D "
Xenogears is the best RPG ever.

Here's the intro to the game for those who have never played/heard of it:

Edit: FF7 and Chrono Trigger is the second best RPG, IMO. Morrowind/Oblivion best 'western' RPG.
i don't know what your talking about with the morrowwind being good and all. I HATE IT! I returned it about 2 weeks after I got it, so i DO know about it, but i couldn't kill anyone and it was just such bad graphics. THE DS HAS BETTER GRAPHICS THAN THAT!!! Well, im exaggerating, but its sorta true condidering the control scheme and movement stuff.
Graphics are overrated dude. (not to mention I disagree that it was as bad as you make it out to be). :? Morrowind consumed most of my Xbox's life with its greatness. I don't know why you couldn't kill anyone considering you can even kill main quest NPCs or anyone else you please.
As for me, I pumped over 100 hours into it. lol.
But seriously, xXSomeguyXx, XENOGEARS! *drools*
Assasins creed. Oh! That and...um... Sims...and tomb raider legend. Not an RPG, but a wonderfull game. *drools*
Haha...
Morrowind, from start to end credits, without cheating, in 7:30.
That's 7 MINUTES 30 SECONDS.
I spent a little more time on it - became head of the Legion, got bored though.
Oblivion
mine would probably be between Grandia 2 on the dreamcast or skis of arcadia legends for Gamecube (yes, I know, a dc port).
Also, my friends and I spent hours and hours on PSO multiplayer also on gamecube instead of DC, that was amazing despite the lack of any real move set or story, something about it was just addicting
I wasdisappointeddisgusted with it. 0/10.
Screw linear tech demos. Go play a real CRPG! I thought the other FFs were good though. But X stinks.
I liked X. Some things were annoying. Rikku, for example, joined under no logical grounds. I loved anima though.
I also like XII. I haven't completed it yet.
P.S. I've heard of CC, but always thought CT was better.
Was there ever a XI?
I coundn't see MMORPGs as true RPGs if I tried. Yeah there is a XI, but it's just another Everquest/WoW/crap-fest.
If I didn't already say it, Tales of Symphonia is a lot of fun.
You didn't. Poor Tales of's have been overlooked as usual. =(
XII is good, after 70+ hours I still haven't come near to completing it though (oh, but Summons are shit. Flashy and all, but almost useless.)
I bought XI, never got beyond the trial period. The game is huge but each consituent is boring as hell, plus there is no mouse control. Uh.
:? Really? ToS did fairly well. One of the few RPG's on Gamecube.
It's great fun.
Tales of Symphonia
I don't know. It just seems to get ignored for whatever reason.
I don't follow. :?
In "list your fav rpg" type-discussions, Tales of games are generally not strongly represented, if at all. Basically the only one that gets mentioned ever is ToS, the one that some people actually bought. It is unfortunate due to the quality of the games I have mentioned (Abyss, Legendia), particularly Abyss which is an exceptional game. However it'd be rare to see it listed for the fact that most PS2 owners already have a huge selection of RPGs available for their platform. If I'm not mistaken, a FF game was released around the same time as Abyss, which was left in its shadow (if it was FF12 like I'm thinking it was, its far inferior shadow). Not that Abyss sold poorly or was a flop, it did reasonably well, but compared to big name RPGs (mostly just Final Fantasy) it's been all but unnoticed.
So I looked ToS up.
It has a tired and ugly anime style.
That's enough to make it unworthy of my time. Bloody ugly anime, ruins everything. Thank god sprites in Disgaea are tiny.
Oh, and on that subject, Disgaea. I've only played the second one. It's great, and it's hardcore.
If there is one perfect role playing game... that should be FALLOUT 2.
The Witcher!
The great thing about ToS is it has a real time battle system that's loads of fun. No more random monster battles either. The battle is surprisingly deep, with dozens of side quests.
Yes, the main character is very generic. "Everyone says you're the guy. I want to be the guy too!"
The clever, deep and fun battle system is what makes this game. Also, it was one of only 4(I think) RPG's on GameCube.
Don't judge a game by it's cover.
Plus, I like anime style. :P
Superstar saga and VI/XII
Tales of Symphonia is the one of my all time favorite RPGs. The battle system makes or breaks an RPG like Tales, and that is one of the main reasons I love it. I don't see what's so great about FFX - It has nice graphics and storyline, sure, but the fights aren't much fun. Tales of games let you go in and actually fight the way you want and are a lot more exciting.
I started Tales of the Abyss yesterday and am loving it more than ToS. The storyline seems deeper and broader than ToS so far - keep in mind I'm only in the Cheagle Woods - the storyline is certainly better because its not the generic adventure storyline where a person (Lloyd/Collete) from a small village is visited by a great wizard type person (Kratos) on a mission to save the world. I've already been through that twice with reading Lord of the Rings and The Sword of Shannara. TotA seems like a promising game, and from what I've seen, I've barely scratched the surface of the game. It keeps all the great elements from ToS and adds new ones such as AD skills.
Also, Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 are great games, along with ANY game released by Level 5.
