Trailer 2 (extended version)
This film looks to be one of the best fantasy films yet. If it's anything like the books, which were superb then this is going to be a must-see. It'll be interesting to see how the include daemons in it.
To put the icing on the cake it's got Eva Green in it, so I'm happy... and have a wealth of avatars ahead of me.
Any thoughts?
I'm soooo happy about Eva Green being in it too, omg I would so go lesbian for her hehehehehe. :D I'm going to watch the trailers right now. God I loved the books. I really hope this won't be crappy like Eragon or whatever the hell, though I haven't seen it.

Yeah, looks pretty decent... that flash of clip with the Daemons in looked pretty impressive, but the clip with the Armored bear (Iorek Byrnison?) didn't look too good. He just looked like a polar bear with armour. Not good. They're meant to be far bigger than any normal bear. And the pictures of the cities looked too advanced for what I'd imagined. Still, that's what I imagined...
Also the bit where the golden monkey grabs the boys daemon and forces him to come with it... that's not consistant with the book. Still, a minor thing.
I hope that the girl they've picked is a good actor ..
Oh, and as well as Eva Green, I might point out Nicole Kidman :o ;)
I have a feeling that this is going to be too short... I mean, the books were pretty long, and the movie can only be so long. I also hope they don't go for the kiddie angle.

No, actually, although that may be where it first came from. I can't remember where I got it from, probably stole it from somewhere or other :P
How I've heard it played is that they're going to completely kill off the anti-Establishment themes in it, as relates to organized religion and the church in general. There was some gabbledegook about how it would be "more philosophical" to make up for it and that the real insights Pullman wanted to convey would remain intact, but it's still complete bullshit; they know they can't sell a blockbuster movie that rags on organized religion. So they'll make the primary antagonist... some vaguely evil, disembodied entity maybe?
It's not going to translate well onto the screen, I can just taste it.
Yeah. :? I guess I agree. Well maybe it will have the same success as Narnia - though I don't exactly understand the hype about that movie. Two of the kids were butt-ugly and the movie itself was kind of average the whole way through.Quote:
