Woah. This movie looks pretty trippy. I might see it in theaters even though I hate spending like $8 to sit down and watch a movie. Maybe I can get some1 to pay for me like usual... Or do the ticket swap trick... Either way I'm never paying for a movie again. (I'm poor) |

Yeah, looks pretty decent... that flash of clip with the Daemons in looked pretty impressive, but the clip with the Armored bear (Iorek Byrnison?) didn't look too good. He just looked like a polar bear with armour. Not good. They're meant to be far bigger than any normal bear. And the pictures of the cities looked too advanced for what I'd imagined. Still, that's what I imagined... |

I have a feeling that this is going to be too short... I mean, the books were pretty long, and the movie can only be so long. I also hope they don't go for the kiddie angle. |
|
No, actually, although that may be where it first came from. I can't remember where I got it from, probably stole it from somewhere or other |

How I've heard it played is that they're going to completely kill off the anti-Establishment themes in it, as relates to organized religion and the church in general. There was some gabbledegook about how it would be "more philosophical" to make up for it and that the real insights Pullman wanted to convey would remain intact, but it's still complete bullshit; they know they can't sell a blockbuster movie that rags on organized religion. So they'll make the primary antagonist... some vaguely evil, disembodied entity maybe? |

Some history about this movie...the creator of this movie is a devout Atheist. He was allegedly enraged about the Chronicles of Narnia subliminal messages toward kids so he made a movie that shows kids taking over and ultimately killing god (the theme). Though the characters are kid killing the christian God...the way the message is delivered is the same as Narnia but totally reversed. |
