It's adequately good, I guess. I'm a big fan of SP, but it isn't their best; Gish, Mellon Collie, and Siamese Dream are better. Track 7 (United States) would be the worst on the album if it weren't for the shit ending. My favourite is 7 Shades of Black (Track 2) which reminds me of Fuck You and I Am One, which are amongst my favourites (of which Bodies is also one).

Yeah, it's an okay album, but nothing overly spectacular. I find very few of the songs to stand out as "unique", which is kind of a shame. In Siamese Dreams and MCIS, every song had its own feel, and this album, I find, lacks that. It's still "good", in the sense that if I put it on as background music, it's quite enjoyable, but it just doesn't really meet the bar set by their older works.

No doubt. I am Not comparing this album to those two. That would be a hard act to follow.
I am just glad to see them rocking again. More hardcore guitar/distorion and vocals.

I should take some time and actually follow along with the lyrics, so some of the songs can grow on me properly . And hey, so long as they're around, there's a chance of a return to the old style that really got me into them. They're probably still figuring out their new dynamics, with the two new musicians that joined (hell, I don't even know their names yet haha).

People seem to think it's a big deal that they didn't get those two back, but frankly, I don't see what the problem is. Both were quite replaceable. D'arcy is a basist. She isn't a fantastic basist, she isn't an amazing basist... she's a basist, and quite replaceable. It's not like they're losing Billy Shehan or anything . And James Iha, while I USED to think he was kind of important and central to the band, really wasn't that much. Have you listened to his solo album? It's j-pop scat!

The creative force was Billy, and Jimmy Chamberlain is definitely an amazing drummer (and I'm really glad he's back). I think they stand a chance, if they can hold it together. I wish they wrote another song like Soma.

By what you say, this seems apparent, considering few of us new they had even changed.
Corgan has managed to keep the "smashing Pumpkins sound" without the other two members.

someone said they were alternative rock, but some of their songs sound like straight forward rock to me.

The "scat" there is redudant. J-Pop implies scat.
