I read this comment... perhaps someone could tell me if its true (ophelia?)

Someone said he is not actually *that* amazing of an opera singer, its just that in the mainstream opera is so incredibly esoteric or nonexistant, so people find it so great. But if you go to a real opera concert thing you will see a lot of people as good or better than him. Is this true?

I saw an opera in Vienna, Austria. It was amazing. Yes, they were better than him. But this guy is charming because he came out of nowhere, and his performance was probably sandwiched by terrible ones.

This is probably true but you also have to remember that if you go to a "real" opera those singers have been classically trained to sing opera.. from what I gather, this guy had no formal training (which is why I was so impressed by him).

sorry to break the bubble, but.

...talent show My Kind of Music. Although he did not win the competition, he won £8,000, which helped to pay for singing lessons in Italy.

on TIME (which is pretty reputable) it tells a little about his history. He had spent like 12 000 euro (15 thousand dollars USD) on singing lessons before stacking shelves at Tesco. So yeah, he has spent a lot of money and time on formal training.

The moon is made out of cheese.

Don't trust anyone, not even a TV show. Espically Foxs news or read the bible or even sponge bob square pants.

Well, you go to mexico and end up with a kidney missing. Paul Potts is rubbish.

Actually I take that back I wouldn't say that is "formal training." I just read something that Paul Potts said... well, a lot of people are accussing him of being some professional singer who is like 'conning' people... well, he did about 4 productions with a very small crappy opera company and didn't really get any money off of it (but got gas expenses, as he said). Also, he said that virtually every act there (any half-decent act), the people had training. People can't give him less credit for having lessons, I mean, most people on those shows have had *some* lessons.

Right, otherwise it would be called "Britain's Got Completely Out of the Blue, No Training Experience, Performers Themselves Didn't Even Know They Could Do This Until They Went Up On Stage, talent."

Actually, they tried to do this type of show in America, but it didn't go down to well.

That looks like an older season. The current season has Jerry Springer as host.. and David Hasselhoff as one of the judges. WHAT A JOKE. Honestly. They also let through this really old lady who tried to sing just because her old-ness was heart warming. The only respectable guy on that show is that British guy from the British version (not Simon), and I bet he's not getting paid enough.

      There.

I always liked Simon, I mean he said some harsh things but he was always honest. He's not afraid to speak his mind even if he'll get booed, where as all the other judges are so obsessed with what the audience will think, they'll say "it was good".

No I really like Simon too, I just forgot the name of that other guy. So I called him the not-Simon guy.
