Thread: Pokemon Red Version

I'm not sure what's sadder. Your obsession, or the fact that I'm jealous. XD

I still have a ton of the cards leftover. I brought them over to a friend's house once and explained how the game worked, and we played for a bit. Some of the stuff you listed sounds cool, though. I missed out on all those promotions since I lived in Australia (the craze still occurred there, but we didn't have many promotions) at the time.

My obsession, hands down! I just collect the cards. I don't play the game. I leave that for Duel Monsters.

Oh, I left 2 things out. I have The Official Pokemon Handbook (that was before I got the Pokedex), and The Official Pokemon Guide. This little baby has all 386 PKMN. (made before the Sinnoh region) It also contains stats, moves, type advantages and disadvantages, egg groups, where you can catch the PKMN in different games, very helpful tips and the basic breakdown of the game. (love it)

I acually remembered 3 other things, but I&#39;ll stop. By now y&#39;all are tired of me posting...

Yellow was my favorite. but you couldn&#39;t select a "difficulty setting" by picking the easiest Pokemon. I feels so glad I am not that obsessed with pokemon.

ah, pokemon. When it came about I was obsessed. Mainly with the cards & games, but I had all sorts of other crap too & loved the cartoon & movies.

I sold my entire card collection (a few thousand or so) on ebay a few years back. can&#39;t remember what i got for it, i know it was a fair amount, as i had some pretty rare cards.

I still think the games are awesome (the gameboy ones, oh & pokemon stadium on n64, that rocked&#33

I used to own red, silver & sapphire. they were all really good RPG&#39;s. They didn&#39;t have much substance to them (like the final fantasy series, for example) but that&#39;s not what they were about, so it didn&#39;t matter. They were just so much goddamn fun.

I&#39;m surprised more people haven&#39;t mentioned Ruby/Sapphire. Having owned Red, Yellow, Gold and Ruby I gotta say I found Ruby the most fun. Of course the Pokemon in the first series were the best. Way more original than any subsequent ones. I dunno, maybe it was because I played Ruby when I actually understood how the game worked, had the patience to play it properly and didn&#39;t just rely on one pokemon to do all the fighting because I didn&#39;t train up the rest of my team. One final nerdy thing, Diamond and Pearl look set to be the next best thing on DS, bar none.

I thought Gold and Silver were the best. Mainly because of the night and day feature. I loved it. Certain Pokemon appeared at certain times... Genius&#33; I think that little immersive details like that are what got me into Animal Crossing. Plus, you could go back and visit the entire Kanto region&#33; I think I had my first feeling of nostalgia when I went back to Kanto in those games.

But I was disappointed when Ruby and Sapphire didn&#39;t include those features. You only had one region, they didn&#39;t bother to let you explore the others. And, of course, no day/night.

Diamond/Pearl are bringing back day and night, but I really want to see future games remake the old areas. That feature adds another 20-so hours or so to the game&#39;s life, and all they have to do is update the sprites.

I have both Diamond and Pearl preordered... Not because I&#39;m a Pokefreak and I want both for myself, but because I&#39;m gonna give one to my bro and keep the other for myself. Online stuff should be a lot of fun.

I just saved up over 100&#036;, so I&#39;m bying both. Besides, my dad wouldn&#39;t let me preorder...

I pre-ordered Diamond last week ^_^
After hearing the reviews and reading up on it and all the new mon, I think it&#39;s going to be the best generation yet. Wi-Fi with voice chat, near 500 creatures now, and all the improvements to the battle system...

The only thing I&#39;m worried about is their latest event only pokemon, Arseus. This one is the God pokemon that created the universe. If the fundamentalists get angry over Murkrow wearing a witch hat, I can&#39;t wait to see what they&#39;ll do when they hear about this

I reserved an English Diamond version last week, and I&#39;ll get Pearl for my birthday in June. I already have a Japanese Diamond Version though, so I bought a new DS for trading. I&#39;ve been spending a lot of money >_>

I hated yellow because I didn&#39;t like that rat of a thing they made you start with. Bulbasaur was where it was at. I played Red and blue all the way through countless times, tried out both silver and gold and just didn&#39;t like it. I wish they left it with just the original ones, but oh well. I only started collecting the cards because they were good bargaining chips for other things my friends had.
