It's okay. My bf and I have a PS3. We prefer that, but my little brother has a Wii. My bf and I can't get enough of Resistance: Fall of Man ^^

Haha, Wii sports is AWESOME. My roommate went out and bought a Wii and brought it up to the dorms, so we've been playing it all the time. Bowling's definitely the best of the sports games, though golf can be fun at times.

I still prefer PS3, lol.

The release titles SUCKED. I mean, Resistance, sure. That looks pretty fun. But the rest of their release titles have been CRAP. Trust me, I was one of the losers who waited in line to buy one at midnight. I sold it later, but I did buy it, and I have played it, and I can say that it is FAR less entertaining to play. The Wii wins on sheer "fun" factor.
Honestly, I was expecting the Wii to be a hokey, one-trick system that wouldn't go anywhere. But then I played it, and it changed my entire opinion. And the release titles for the Wii have been GREAT. Wii Sports is completely addicting, Zelda is a GREAT game, and Call of Duty 3 is really fun to play with the motion sensitivity--you actually punch with the Wiimote to hit somebody in the game, and sometimes you have to wrestle with people if you get too close. To throw a grenade, you perform a throwing motion with the nunchuk, and to reload you swing the nunchuk to the right. Plus the obvious point-to-shoot, and it is AMAZING. It really gets you involved in the game, although it is a bit hard to get used to at first.

PS3 has better franchises and is a more powerful system. The Wii is unique and has better launch titles for sure, but the PS3 will still bet the winner for many people.

It just cracks me up that they did that.
Anyway, the PS3 is pretty powerful, but it&#39;s going to take a while for the programmers to be able to use all that power. Especially since PS3 utilizes cell processing, and programmers haven&#39;t ever programmed for anything like that before--even dual-core processors are nowhere near the same, and programmers have a hard enough time writing programs that make good use of dual-core processors.

My little brother has a Wii. I still love PS3 ^^

not every body has a mommy and daddy that will pay for a seven hundred dollar entertainment system.

wii is affordable and more than out-maneuvers the competition... if you wanted a powerful gaming system you should have bought a computer... if you wanted a entertainment system for the tv you should have bought a wii... it&#39;s as simple as that.

Even with the extra components, the Xbox 360 is still the cheapest way to get a decent HD-DVD player. Wait about a year and I&#39;ll expect amazing things from the PS3.

That&#39;s true. The Wii is a great system despite its weaknesses. The reason why PS3 is so expensive is because of the BluRay. If Sony would sell it&#39;s rights to all its good games to a computer software company, then I&#39;d get a computer too.

Either case, I&#39;m too cheap to by a PS3...

Hell no. The PS3 price is pretty stupid, I want to know how Sony thought they&#39;d get anyone to buy it when it costs so much. It&#39;ll come down in price but it&#39;s still pretty damn steep (I was considering buying an XBox 360, if anything).

Yeah, it&#39;s way expensive and Sony&#39;s still taking a massive loss selling it at its current price. That BluRay really costed them a ton, didn&#39;t it? They&#39;ve got to sell something like 30 games (or a few controllers and accessories plus a bit less games) just to break even. So the 360 and the Wii both are winning on profits even if PS3 sells moderately well.

I really don&#39;t think the price for the PS3 is all that ridiculous, considering what you get for it.

You guys do know that the 360&#39;s price, at launch, was about &#036;399, right?
Their new HD-DVD player peripheral is selling for &#036;199. That&#39;s &#036;600, right there, and you still wouldn&#39;t be getting all of the features (not to mention future performance potential) of the PS3. True, Sony completely screwed itself, as far as the market is concerned, but how many of us gamers really give a shit about how a system does in Sales? What matters (to me) is how well a system performs, at its full potential. People seem to forget that the 360 has been out for a year and the in-game performance of the PS3 is already comparable.

I think Sony&#39;s biggest problem is trying to get the PS3 to replace the home entertainment system (which, in turn, is responsible for the hefty price tag). They should give us just the Game System that it&#39;s supposed to be, and let everything else be optional.

Panasonic tried to do the same thing with the 3DO by coupling superior graphics with a whole bunch of other shit, trying to be the new innovation in home entertainment of various media. A great idea, in theory, but a game system (to the minds of the people) is still, basically, a game system. Trying to influence everyone into accepting it as more and, consequently, jacking up the price to reflect it&#39;s potential, is just not what most of us are ready for.

Oh. And yeah. Both the 360 and Wii are cool, in their own right. (Wii&#39;s interactivity is awesome, and a concept WAAY overdue, in videogames. Not much of a fan of the childish target audience of most Nintendo games, though. And I give 360 props for being the first to kick off the console wars - pardoning their systems&#39; crashing upon launch) I just hate to see people pissing all over the PS3 without giving it a fair chance to see what it&#39;s capable of, simply because they aren&#39;t willing to pay that much for it. Because, honestly, aside from the price tag, what is there to really complain about, so far?

And you can hack the 360&#39;s HD-DVD player and install it to a computer. Macs even have the drivers already installed for it.
