I vomited whenever I saw the kids having seizures.

I laughed when that bitch started yelling "THIS MEANS WAR!!!".

I vomited again when I saw the little girl crying.

What is happening to our world, lol.

      I'm really sad.
I mean, that's not the first time in history that people have used religion to manifest hate, and that's not even the first time in the past five years, but... I guess a Children's Jesus Militia is next.

Religious extravagates make me upset enough, but Goddamn.

I think.. well, no... I'm pretty sure.... I'm genuinely pissed off and scared all at the same time. I'm just curious to see how a video like that could be "even-handed". How could brainwashing be justified?

To think these are the freaks that will likely be walking the streets, working in the industries, and essentially running this country when I'm too old to defend myself from them.

I can't believe people are actually putting thoughtful discussion into the comments on YouTube. The apocalypse is surely upon us.

I think that some have criticized this documentary (which I haven't seen yet) a little bit for not making it clearer that these people aren't just run-of-the-mill evangelicals but people who are fairly extreme even by the standards of the religious right. Still, the creepy Hitler Youth vibe I'm getting from the clips I've seen definitely worries me.

RE: the subject line, I think everyone needs to be a little bit worried about theocracy-loving nutcases (which I don't think all Christians are) in positions of power, not just atheists:

Motherfucking evangelicals are the product of group insanity. On their own they'd just be that "crazy street preacher"
...but when they form groups...theres noone there to tell them how fucking stupid they are...they don't question the insanity...they can say anything...and come up with the most fucking stupid ideas that books like the bible allow...Even the most illogical, stupid, mind stifling, self destructive thoughts find an open oppurtunity to perpetuate in this skepticism-free insane asylum of evangelicals. But the worst part of all is they then brainwash the next generation. This movie looks like child abuse to me...those kids are really really really fucked up.

The sad thing is that that film isn't exaggerating. Not all evangelicals are that fundamentalist, but a large proportion are.

Yeah who's the film-maker by the way? I know if this was an MM film he'd be shot on site trying to walk in and interview any of these people. It must have been sopmeone relatively unknown.

Heh, mullet kid is funny, I wonder if he'll keep the mullet when he's 40 and has a show on fox news.

Don't make fun of mullet kid.

It's not his fault the evangelical asshole adults have abused and brainwashed him since birth.

      LOL

Ya, I kind of doubt a 5 year old really gives a shit.

Also to people who think I need to "get a life" and stop worrying about these people.

You are ignorant and an asshole.

      Watch this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=w4fQA9mt-Mg

      Still not convinced?

The End of Faith by Sam Harris will clear things up.

haha yah I've heard of business men making millions and millions by telling these child like evangelicals that "jesus has spoken to him...and will guarentee X% or w.e income rates...or doubling their money by investing in stock jesus has told him will work"

      and they fall for it.

I guess when you believe everything in the bible is true because it says in the bible that everything in the bible is true...and of course thats true..because everthing in the bible is true...and it goes in a circle...well if you believe that...you can be tricked into doing almost anything!

That's pretty direct and to the point (and all accomplished without the need of a single mc shouting or raising his fist to arouse emotion before a large mass of people).

There's a link under that clip, though, that was also interesting. It says "This is a video response to Atheist ". I thought it was an anti-athiest clip, but it's not.

It did rasie a couple questions for me, though. Towards the end there is a listing of "fools" (labeled as people who would do no good because of lack of faith in God). Almost all were Hollywood celebrities. So, I wondered first: are these all celebrities that have declared themselves athiests? And second: I know scientology is pretty big in that Hollyood circle - where does that stand in all this? Is scientology a "religion"?

      thoroughly depressing...

i have tears in my eyes from that one cute little girl weeping, looking so lost in a sea of group madness.
      -----
until completion of grade eleven i was raised and educated in a fundamentalist christian community similar to the one portrayed in this clip.

the scars will likely mar my being for the rest of my life. often i can only wonder at what my natural likeness would be if it could be seen beneath the malformed citatrice.
      --
and the success rate of this indoctrination is staggering...id speculate at least 75% of children raised in such a way remain in the "faith".

of those who see it for the hell it is, suicide or self-medication are the two main means of escaping from a twisted sense of selfhood.

very, very few come out to live happy, fulfilled, meaningful lives from all i have seen.

*sighs* what a fucked up world we live in.

Is there anyway these type of people can be charged for child abuse? what wombing discribes makes me think it is possible someome could be put in jail for this...and that would be excellent...free the children.

I still fear God even as an atheist. I don't know why but I was a bible thumping God-loving and God-fearing at the same time. It fucked with my head.

I went through a nasty period of suicidal thoughts and depression and God only made it worse.

If you ask me, he abused me more than anyone ever could. I might post my story later.

Also, if you watch Richard Dawkins documentaries, he visits a rehabilitation center for children who have been abused by religion. It's quite sad really.
