Shin Seiki Evangelion all the way, first one I watched. Argh, bleach and naruto gone on too long... Cartoon network ruins all that is beautiful and delicate and japanese, anime must be watched in japanese. Foreign TV anime... you poor poor things. My heart goes out to you.

Hmm... Gunslinger, Advent, Hellsing, Miyazaki's... I enjoyed all, very good taste... but I have not watched Gankutsuou... ok, then I will get.

      I am from South Africa

I liked Advent Children a lot. My favorite anime set would probably be Fullmetal Alchemist. I haven't seen the others mentioned on this site, so will have to check into them.

With closing eyes and resting head; I know that sleep is coming soon.

I saw a show called He is My Master, and I don't know what to say. I think I'll just stick to My Princess Mononoke, or my Street Fighter 2: the Movie, hahaha

Hey, why don't we all watch some spider riders?

      Or maybe some B' Daman!

      Let's watch Fighting Foodons!

The above: All the shows that premiered in my life that I absolutely Hated, but I Can't get enough of Spirited away and Advent Children ( to add to above list, hahaha)

      OOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!

i just got the best news in some time now!!!!

      look at this:

      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0400911/

they're gonna make an evangelion live action movie!!!

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Untitle...gelion_Project
and in some other sources i saw that they're gonna make a trilogy (they better do)

bad thing is: i could take a while: probably 2007-2010 (first movie) (they don't even have director, and cast & stuff yet)

      after a long time... i'm back !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

      (YAY)

      so:

i have a few new favorites...

the first one is Ouran High School Host club...
don't be scared away by it's description, 'cause the humor (which there is a lot of, i assure you) is absolutely brilliant...

and the second got a bittorrent link right after i saw the first episode on youtube: i'm talking about the absolutely brilliant serie:
      "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"
the story won't make sense to you if i'd tell you now... you just have to watch it...
also: it has a great style of it's own:
the main character narrates everything... it's like he's in your mind, thinking the absolutely brilliant sarcastic comments you're thinking of... there isn't a single second wasted with people just standing there, staring at each other, etc. every moment is filled with commentary. (just watch the first episode, you'll see what i mean)...

oh, and before i forget: the first episode isn't really the first episode... it's the 7th/11th (can't remember anymore)...
also: the first episode is a movie the SOS brigade (yeah, i know... just watch the anime!!!&#33 made... it's so bad it's funny/good...

the producers scrambled the episodes together...

but that's not bad: it's GREAT... it's UNIQUE...
and you should watch it that way... don't watch it chronologically: seriously... you should watch it the way the producers have meant it to be watched...

BRILLIANT ANIME!!!!! GO WATCH IT NOW!!!!!

      so: my top 3:
      -Neon Genesis Evangelion
      -The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
      -Gunslinger Girl

it depends what age you are as when i was young i was crazy about pokemon and digimon then i kinda stopped it for a while then naruto hellsing wolfs rain then i began to look into 'classic' anime like akira and cowboy bebop but if i had to make a list it be like this
      1-wolfs rain-beautifull animation and ending
      2-shaman king-shonen jump's best hilarious and superb
3-cowboy bebop-great charaters and ending same guys who made wolfs rain also
4-pokemon/digimon- kept me nerd all those years back and i still watch them =)
      5-dragonball z- truely a masterpiece in anime
6-naruto- entertaining great fight scenes stays true to manga
7-invader zim-one of the funniest animes aroud
      8-samurai champloo- currently watching
9-megas xlr-also a very funny anime but got cancelled- twas to do with videogaming and giant mechs
10-gatchaman- think power rangers but japanese and really old animation but still excellent

      My Dream Chronicles
is life a predetemined path, do we control our own destiny's or is there something out there greater than all of us? perhaps dreams are insight into our minds, perhaps they are random thoughts, it keeps me up at night.

Akira - if you haven't read the manga, it's epic. Much more so than the movie.

Vampire Hunter D - the new one is great but the old one is still a classic.

Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 2: Alpha - the best fighting since the DBZ movies.

      Ninja Scroll

Miyazaki - brilliant, every single one

X: the movie - never saw the series but loved the movie.

Yeah!! Anime Rules! my favs are
      Full Metal Alchemist
      Death Note
      Dnangel
      Trinity Blood
Chrno Crusade (i hate that its liscensed! it makes this series so hard to find&#33
      Naruto
      Inuyasha
Rurouni Kenshin (whoot whoot old school anime&#33

and there are a few more that i can't recall at the moment......for anyone reading this they should know that i watch every series in original Japanese (with subtitles of course&#33. I honestly hate english dubbing. sometime, go on www.youtube.com and check out your fav anime in english (if its available) you'll be able to hear and see the difference right away! if you have never seen any series in japanese, you probably wont like it because you tend to get used to the english version and not like the Jap. one. But if you ever feel like starting a series, i HIGHLY RECCOMMEND that you start with the japanese version (just so you guys know, the Jap. versions have more swearing, and the people who made the english versions edited the scenes and scrtipts of the shows, so if the series you're watching makes absolutely no sense, chances are it will in Japanese.

SO yeah.....anyone who disagees with me, please don't flame out, this is my opinion and nothing more.

      -Sincearly,
      WinryRockbell

Cool, you like some of the ones I do.
You should try Elfen Lied then

Hmm Elfen Lied isn't my kind of anime, too much graphic violence. Though the artwork is very good. However the plot sucked, as most of the manga-adapted anime shows do.

I enjoyed Gunslinger Girl, however, I feel like they could have done much better with the concept, but it's manga adapted so whatever.

Now that I think about it, I haven't really seen any really good anime shows. Every one of them seems to be plot deficient.

I really like the artwork/style in these:

Last Exile and Gunslinger Girl. That Ouran High School Host Club seems to be along the same lines. Anyone have any suggestions on anime series that are drawn in the same style?

I guess I could handle the standard huge googly eyes style like Elfen Lied too, but not as much.

EDIT: I take that back, Ouran High School thing is totally not my style of animation. I was mistaken after seeing the description.

"Higurashi no naku koro ni"... a.k.a. "When Cicadas Cry"

it's some kind of horror/mystery/detective anime that tells the story of Keiichi Maebara, and his merry friends in the Hinamizawa Village. It is a small village with a population of less than 2,000, and a place cursed by Oyashiro-Sama.

Each year, during the festival of Watanagashi, one person dies and another disappears. It is a cycle of death which started with a fight over the construction plans for a dam. That incident was covered up by the police and has now come back to haunt the village.

Is this tragedy inevitable? Is there nothing you can do but accept it?

The anime tells this story in different ways: with different victims, different storylines, etc. and has been split up in 8 arcs: 4 question arcs, setting the mood, and developing the story in such a way the viewer can make up their own theories of what exactly is happening, and 4 answer arcs, in which the question arcs are answered with concrete answers about the whole thing...

i'm still amazed at how brilliant this series is..

      you should really see it.

      9/10

ps: what i found funny (yes, funny(&#33) is that this series has the art you'd expect from a comedy like fruits basket, azumanga daioh etc. not from an anime in which dismemberment, torture and death are it's main subjects...

      Bleach.

      Bleach, Bleach, and more Bleach.

Please tell me other people like Bleach.

Full Metal Alchemist is pretty good so far, I'm only to episode 9, gonna watch some more tonight. Same goes for Samurai Champloo.

I think Bleach might be my favorite TV show ever, not just anime. The emotions that show makes me feel...it's almost indescribable. I've heard similar things about Full Metal Alchemist from various people. But the first episode of Bleach floored me in a way that nothing else has, and it only grew from there.

You need to get your hands on the manga, seeing how that's where it originated from. Then it'll be your favourite creation of literature too. >.>

i'm up to ch. 52 in the bleach manga, actually, i'm making my way through it. i really wish i could just have the actuall books and not have to read them on the computer though, i think it would be a lot more, i dont know, authentic, for lack of a better word. anyway, love them so far, so can't complain too much.

My friend suggested it to me, she's been crazy about the show since last year. I heard from someone else that it gets boring after ep. 50 or something.

Last exile - Great anime... highly recommmendable, if only for the epic use of 3d images and battles between airships in the sky.

HONEY AND CLOVER... another one to my favorites... it's a great mixture between a romantic, comedy-drama...

really good... i laughed out loud during the twister game...

      it's really funny

I havenīt watched too many series you mentioned, mostly because of the lack of time (school and all those activities -.- ) but well:

      Gundam Seed Destiny
      Fate/Stay Night
      Street Fighter (all versions)
Gatchaman (I remember those and I love them)
Full Metal Panic The second raid (lol)
      Gundam Seed

My favorite movie is Sprited Away

      But I also watch "tokusatsu"

And I wanna see Azumanga Daioh and Cowboy Bebop
