Saw this at Fantastic Four showing. Thank God he's kept it in the same time-frame (1930s era). We don't need something akin to 1999's "Godzilla".

I can't wait to see Jack Black in this movie. He's finally getting the respect he deserves as an actor.

hmm, i saw a clip for that this morning...i'm not sure it's going to be my kind of thing...
those kind of films are good to my mind if you don't really want to pay attention...i like a good plot....i think i saw godzilla, and i hated it...
I guess it's good he hasn't messed with the time frames, but how is it different from the original?
i was watching breakfast tv, and they said something like 'a new film by Peter Jackson' and i was like 'cool, he did LOTR' and then i found myself a bit disappointed somehow...i was like 'oh...'

I saw previews of this in the movie and theatre and it does look really cool. I fell in love with Black when I saw Shallow Hal so I am looking forward to looking at another side of his acting in this movie.

My god the world has gone Peter Jackson crazy!

I mean sure, it's awesome that a NZ director has managed to bust out some phat movies for once, but COME ON PEOPLE, he's not that good.

Oh well, I do reckon that he's pretty awesome, but the amount of credit given to him is pretty outrageous. I'm pretty sure King Kong will be awesome too.

I remember watching one of his first films (ridiculously low budget, LOL) called Bad Taste and it was the shit . If you can get access to it then I reccomend it for a laugh.

      Rock on!

Actually, I don't know too much about Peter Jackson. But Lord of the Rings is all I need to know about him to be stoked to see this movie. If this movie is crap I will be shocked beyond belief.

Oh my god. There was a special about King Kong on ET or something last night. And he doesn't just fight the one t-rex in that scene where they go charging at each other, HE FIGHTS THREE OF THEM!!!! AT ONCE!!!!!!

I can barely breathe right now.

Yeah, I'm not sure I get this either. Jack Black is great, there's no question he adds a lot to the movie.

But, what, is it because we don't find the theory of evolution at all palatable, that we have to aggrandize the ape and show it as the homo superior that can take down the dinosaurs with its bare hands before we can accept that it has feelings?

Or I just think too much.

You think too much. It's not a thinking movie. Watch this movie and just appreciate how far we've come since the original and the remake, and admire the beauty of the creatures. When will you ever get to see a huge ape fighting three t-rex's at once in real life? Just let yourself be entertained for a couple of hours by the fantasy. There's nothing wrong with that.

Of course it is. But different people obviously go see movies for different reasons. I personally couldn't care less about the love story. If you haven't noticed from my other posts, I'm a huge fan of monsters, creatures, large animals, etc. I will watch people play video games just to watch the cool creatures in them. Watching Lord of the Rings or any kind of Dinosaur documentary is orgasmic for me. I love the way they look, the way they move, their faces, the roaring, the growling. That's my motivation for going to see this movie and why I get so excited about it. Anything monster/creature/large animal/alien fascinates me to no end. And Lord of the RIngs was done like no movies I have ever seen before, which is why I'm so thrilled that Peter Jackson did King Kong.

Although, I'm also a huge romantic, so it's very likely that I'll be squealing at the cutesy moments in the movie as well.

I watched the movie yesteday and it's damn good. The scene with King Kong fighting 3 T-rexes is just awesome. So many effects. T-rexes stood no chance at all. Peter Jackson made Kong look so real with facial expressions and everything. Just how much work was done on making the 1930s New York ...wow. I just love the movie. Oh yeah soundtrack is awesome. Just so you know...if you hate spiders, bugs and that kind of things there are some scenes that will make you hate them even more. And for the love story well it's a bit shallow. You have to watch the movie.

OMG has anyone seen how much weight Peter Jackson has lost!
I guess it is true that inside every fat man there's a skinny one trying to escape!

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. How to summarize my feelings for this movie? Hmmm.....how about:

      3 HOUR ORGASM!!!!!

The dinosaurs and Kong and the way he MANGLED the t-rex. Just awesome. My only complaint, which I have with all movies like this, is that you can really tell when there's that green screen in the background sometimes.. But no big deal. Oh, and I experienced a lot of vertigo. Same thing happened when I watched Spiderman in the theatre and he was swinging from building to building. Yuck. It's a gross feeling, so if you're prone to it then be prepared when you watch this movie.

Otherwise, totally entertaining and full of eye-candy. And the love story was very cute too. Not a big fan of Naomi Watts, but I learned to not pay attention to her because the rest of the movie was just soooooooo cool.

      GO WATCH IT!

Damn I just saw it today, and I have to say the director did a hell of a job. He actually made a really touching (and cool) story.

He could have gone with the 'King Kong is like a robot or trex with no feelings' thingy, but actually gave kong a personality.

      Great movie
