Nowadays I've noticed that I like progressive rock a lot.

      And yes, rap sucks.

This is what the truth likes; Metal, heavy metal (same thing I think), rock (Aerosmith my favorite band!) country, loads of banjo stuff. Pass The Dutchie is the only reggae song I like lol. And some classical.

This is what theTruth hates; 'Chav' music, eg nieche. Club, trance, pop, rap, r'n'b, and some other things....

now, i like most music...i don't think there is one kind of music i 'hate' that i wouldn't listen to...i'm open to any new kind of music.
I might say i don't like it, and not listen again...doesn't mean i hate it...what's to hate about music?

      I hate commercialized trash.

This includes all of mainstream hip-hop, r&b and rap. A lot of "new rock". Some classic rock.

Any band that sells their material to be used in commercials.

I like electronic music, I also hate electronic music. I like intricate and intelligent electronic music, I hate dance/trance/club etc. I hate pop music, not to be cool, but because I genuinely dislike it and can't relate to it. I like classical and Jazz though, and I'm partial to psychedelic rock - providing it's Pink Floyd. I fucking HATE the crazy frog.

My favorite styles of music would have to be hardcore, screamo, metal, death metal, some rap(tupac, bone thugs n harmony, mike jones, ect), and I don't mind listening to pop, though I don't like it too much. I also like the occasional trance.

      I don't like country.

Like: The best of Rock, Progressive Rock, 80s Synth Masterpieces, whatever genre the Smashing Pumpkins are in.

Hate: The talentless rappers such as 'Akon' 'Eminem' and '50 Cent' who take one repeating bar and speak shit all over it, any teen pop-faux rock band such as McFly,Most dance music (although the occastional gem shines through), Girl Bands, R&B, Folk, Country, Blues, Old Rock & Roll, Novelty (e.g. Crazy Frog) songs , Soul....

I used to be hardcore into scene music/worked for a punk/indie label.

At different times, I have been into punk, 2nd/3rd wave ska, OS Hardcore, Tough Guy Hardcore, Metal Hardcore, and Psychobilly, and pop-emo...those days are definitely over, except for the 2nd wave ska, sometimes.

Before that, in High school, I was into Nu-Metal at one point. Those days are Waaay over.

I've been into underground hip hop (KRS-One, Jeru the Damaja, Jurassic 5, Immortal Technique, Rasco, Lootpack, Cali Agents, Styles of Beyond, etc.). Can listen to this stuff, sometimes.

Some Electronica (DRum&Bass, Hardcore, Noizecore, House)

Some pop. (David E. Sugar, things like that)

Random things like The Cure, Blondie, The Ramones, etc.

Some Nihon Ongaku (Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, YMCK, etc.)

Pretty much, I'm sick of everything. I can still listen to ALL of those genres, as well as others, but I don't respect them, anymore. They really seem "Dead".

I'm working with these other two musicians...basically, I think we have something that doesn't exist. It's not really in the vein of any music that's been done. We're really trying to create something ALL NEW, that isn't artsy/pretentious/only good to us. We've seen some things in music, and made some realizations that it seems no one has every encountered.

Right now, it's in it's infancy. We'll see how it goes, soon, I guess.

I'm mostly into Punk Rock and Ska (1, 2 or 3 wave, but mostly 3rd)

Occasionally I'll listen to new Punk bands, but most of the newer ones are just more of the same. I outright HATE Hawthorne Hights, Good Charlotte, Papa Roach, MOST Foo Fighters, and a bunch of other bands I'm too tired to think of.

Anyway, I also listen to some Alt Rock, lots of Classic Rock, some Prog Rock, very little techno, some Folk, some Jazz, and a little Blues.

Don't listen to any Rap, R&B, Hip-Hop or Country. Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B because the genres took everything good about music and threw 'em out the window, then repeatedly sold out on what was left of it afterwards. Country mostly because of the vocals. Tone-deaf cowboys NEVER should be allowed to sing. EVER. But once in a while a country song is decent...Rarely, but occasionally. Which is better than what I can say about Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B.

Well, fave bands are: Flogging Molly, The Pillows, Dropkick Murphys, Queen, Steve Miller Band, BTO, The Ramones, Oingo-Boingo, Reel Big Fish, Hot Hot Heat, Green Day, Eve 6 (Though some of their later stuff sold out), CCR, Collective Soul, The Beatles, Social Distortion and Smashing Pumpkins.

      Mainstream rap did.

You just have to look harder, to find good, modern MC's. It's themes are actually very similar to punk, only sometimes, smarter, with funnier metaphors. It's also, well, pretty much MORE underground than good punk, actually.

You should check out Immortal Technique, and I've heard good things about Sage Francis. Are you into hardcore? I hear good things about XReign of TerrorX, and E-Town Concrete.

There is good hip-hop. Mainstream media definitely wants you to think that there isn't, though.

If you want something more old school, try Jurassic 5.

I sometimes catch myself listening to the cRAP that my sister downloads ( i have dsl now 7.2 mbps beat that u cable overpaying losers) but then i say aah wait im supposed to hate rap... usually its those wierd unique little zingers they throw into the beat to make it somewhat distinguished, yet if im even paying even an eensy bit attention to the lyrics, then i usually just turn it off. i like techno, only thing is, i dont know where to get it from and my mom utterly despises it. i just get what people send me. anything else is all right, im not picky.

BTW i like black eyed peas... though lately they've been getting into the women degrading fad a eensy bit. If you can hear me guys, STOP IT

I like Lounge and I hate R&B. I recently found out that contrary to popular belief there is actually some good rap out there, but you'll never hear it on the radio.

      I like Indie Rock.

I like bands like Arcade Fire (yes, you knew it was coming), Broken Social Scene, Wilco, Built To Spill, etc.

I dislike bad music. Such as country (seriously, that's hardly even a genre) and mainstream rap and hip hop. Oh, and emo. And geez, My Chemical Romance is a joke. So is Fallout Boy. Okay, sorry, I'm done.

I can't tolerate country, and I especially hate the gangsta rap these skinny white kids listen to. But I still enjoy good hip hop. I'm mostly into alternative rock and that sort of stuff now.

New rock is like all other music--you have to be sure to listen to the good stuff. Yeah, some of the mainstream stuff sucks, but there's a considerably large amount of good new rock out there.

Hehe, I hate country too - but if you actually listen to it, the music is often technically quite good and pretty melodic. That is more than can be said for rap/rnb/pop etc.

Exactly my feelings--I don't particularly like Country, but the genre is pretty good if you look at it unbiased. Just the vocals bug me. Personally, I think all these tone-deaf cowboys 'ought be rounded up and have their tongues cut out lest they think about a singing career. But the music itself isn't bad-just not my style.

Unfortunately, Rap has none of this going for them, as they don't have any music involved. Just...talking. Quickly. And an overly powerful beat.
Hip-Hop isn't much better--they usually just steal everybody else's music and use crappy, synthesized versions as intros. Or create NEW crappy, synthesized intros. Either way, they fall a long ways short of earning my respect, since I usually prefer people who can actually PLAY instruments.
