Romantic Movies W/Substance

The majority of romantic movies I come across lack substance and are generally not thought-provoking. So I trust you DVers to suggest some movies with strong romantic elements that actually have substance.

I'll give examples

Have substance: Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (!!), Let the right one in, The Science of sleep, Vanilla Sky, Memento even
No substance: The Notebook, x Nicholas Sparks film, Pretty woman, ..

It doesn't have to be strictly romantic, of course. A good movie will have a lot going on besides romance. I am open to all kinds of suggestions, and I really like foreign films.

The Adjustment Bureau, if you can find it online. BEST ROMANCE EVER because of the substance.

Oh yeah there's one called Open Hearts (Elsker Dig For Evigt) that I really want to watch, but I can't find it anywhere. (*cough*someone plz find it)

The Painted Veil is a visually stunning movie, and it's really well-done. I might be biased because I love Ed Norton, but It's definitely worth checking out.

I just watched True Lies today. That is a romance movie crossed with an action movie. It was pretty awesome.

It's flat out one of the best movies ever anyway, but the romantic message is so beautifully delivered. Oh, and wake up campers, rise and shine; and don't forget your booties 'cos it's cold outside.

I heartily second Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as one of the best movies ever!

As Good As It Gets should definitively be on this list. Personally I'd also say The Bicentennial Man man could fit in this category. Maybe even The Yes Man.

Yeah, Juno was a really cool film. Ellen Page is actually a very good actress.

i love wrist cutters dont be deceived by the title as thats what the whole film is deceiving but a huge delight. its a movie that stands out from the rest as the romance is the core of the film that the characters become. it is beyond the typical trash out there and stands shoulders above the rest. how a modern love story should be not comical rubbish.

The Fountain. It's more tragic than romantic, about death and losing loved ones, but is beautiful. In a way it is my favorite movie, I was actually tearing during it but trying not to because my parents were there, and I almost never cry. I should really watch it again.
