Love LotR, I hope this is good. I like Martin Freeman too; he certainly has a hobbity face and character. Hopefully he performs well. |

The first trailer for The Hobbit was released today! As most of you may or may not know, they are splitting the story up in to two movies because they are also going to be showing what Gandalf and Aragorn were doing while away from the main story line group (essentially investigating dol guldur and trying to catch gollum) Hence the subtitle "an Unexpected Journey). |

I have doubts. I'll probably watch it though. I really like the Hobbit, though, so I should probably avoid it. |

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
I read The Hobbit when I was about 12. I didn't even know about LOTR while reading it, and didn't read LOTR until way after. There are a lot of dwarves, and that might be a little annoying. Gimli added some humor and was a good character in the LOTR group, but so many dwarves seem like they'd just overdo it. Still, the trailer was amazing and has made me look forward to it a little more. |

Nah I don't think so, there are thirteen dwarves and they'll mostly be extras following just slightly behind the speaking characters. |

Oh what there's going to be two hobbit films? Sigh, still looking forward to it though. |

The story has 13 dwarves (in the group). The trailer looks really good and if they follow the plot we going to see gandalf kicking ass. Also pleased to see galadriel there although I don't remember her in the book. |
|
lol yes, because they are going to spend part of the time showing what aragorn and gandalf were up to after gandalf left the group. It should be really cool to see some appendices stuff brought to life. |

I'm exited for this. I really enjoyed the book, hopefully this does it at least minimal justice lol. |

I don't think I've ever watched a movie based on a book I loved that did not disappoint me. It's not the film's fault though, my imagination just has better graphics. |

This looks amazing! Hopefully as good as LotR. Looking forward to returning to that comfortable world. |

K I watched the Preview and it does look pretty cool but Thorin looks a little tall to the point where I almost confused him as Bard (its been a while since I read the hobbit) which would be a pretty extreme change. |

Loved the book, as well as the LoTR movies. So psyched! Errrm also is it me or do one or two of the dwarves look CGI'ed? |

heh Im sure they are going to pay special attention to every character. PJ said he will keep the style consistent with lotr so thats good, because while I do enjoy the hobbit as whimsical in its book form, I kind of want a more serious tone in the movie for the exact consistency that PJ mentions. Im sure it wont quite be AS serious though lol. |

The Hobbit wasn't exactly a comedy story, though the dwarves had a pretty dry sense of humor, the initial contact with golem and the capture in the forest were pretty serious and even a little creepy. And the battle where Bard kills Smog was simply epic. |
