Thread: Will Sony ban my console or sue me if I used a modded PS3 controller or a Third Party Controller?

I'm planning on getting a PS3 for Christmas and I'm wondering if Sony will ban my console or sue me if I get a modded controller or a third party controller from Nyko or other companies that make controllers? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question...

I don't know about the modded controller but the third party controller shouldn't get you banned otherwise they wouldn't sell them in the big name stores. I'm not even sure if Sony has a system of banning people, but i think if you mod your actual game system so that it plays free games you didn't pay for, then you can get banned but im not sure about that either.

Yea I'm not sure about that either, Most people just mod their PS3s just for show off. Like putting lights on them and stuff, etc. I wouldn't do that though cause of the warranty on the console. Thanks for the help. I hope I'll get a PS3 for Christmas. lol And cool Avatar. Another Zelda fan.

Wouldn't put it past them. I say do it. If they try to sue you just tell Lulzsec and maybe they'll take the network down again.

You can use any controller you want to. Don't share your account with anyone, though.
You'll get a lot of friend invites asking you if you want to game share, just block em and move on.

No they won't sue you. If controller works, it should be good to go. And yes, they have system to get rid of unwanted people, at least from PSN.
