Which consoles are better? I can't decide which one I want to get. I don't know which is better and I don't know which one I will like, What are the cons and pros I should know to anyone who owns either of them? And which one has better gameplay? And online play? And I'm talking graphic wise. Will Alice Madness Returns and Skyrim look good on both of the consoles? What about other games? Thanks. And will I have to worry about them over heating and breaking down?
I say PS3 over 360.
The more complete truth is that (as far as graphics) the two are not all that different from each other. However, now that more high-end games are coming out, the 360 requires downloadable content that helps it get better-textured version of the new games, which the PS3 already comes with. Overall, I think the PS3 simply shows much more longevity. You already have to spend much more money to get similar options on the 360 that the PS3 comes with (which often offsets the difference in core price for the systems), and my experiences has been that the PS3 generally seems to run a little bit better, and performs better when it comes to particle effects and things like that.
When it comes to online play, Playstation offers free online. Xbox does not.
Xbox does have a strong library of exlusives, though. So you are definitely going to get a different experience, when it comes to the games that you can only get on one system or the other, it's going to come down to personal preference, but I still think PS3 is the better system, personally.
I kinda agree with you there, PS3 has good games to choose from, So does the Xbox. I'm not really picky to when it comes to consoles. I just want to enjoy a good game on a system that works well. I also like the idea of adding themes on the PS3 menu as well. And downloading content and being able to watch Blu-Ray movies and HD. And the 3D support is also good as well. PS3 not just because of the amazing games it has but also because of the blu-ray player, the better online community (Xbox is a bunch of young annoying kids), and the free multiplayer.
Trust me, i own both consoles.

The PS3 control is way better than the Xbox controller.

The grass is always greener. PS3 is better in enough ways you're less likely to regret it unless you absolutely NEED one of xbox's exclusive titles.

How do consoles even still exist? They're just PCs with some basic peripherals and software. Give it 10 years and they'll be dead as a fax machine.

Unless you're after console exclusives, PC gaming is definitely the way to go IMO. The graphics and online are far superior to that of any console, whilst the controls are often customisable and have options for a controller should you want one. The communities vary from game to game, but from what I've found the nice/helpful people outnumber the irritating children. That said, I do prefer using a console to play single player games, but it's all a matter of personal preference in the end. Also, you can usually fine tune the settings to suit your system so it looks pretty whilst not overheating your computer.
When are people going to learn that both PC's and consoles are always going to be around, because not everyone who games is serious enough about it to put in the time, effort and dedication it takes to be a hardcore PC gamer? Not everyone is interested in making sure their computer runs like a finely tuned Ferrari (or in the cost associated with it). Consoles are lightyears more convenient than being confined to a high-end PC to play your games. Some people that want to play games want to be able to move their consoles from place to place - for ease of carry - and be able to set them up quickly and break them down quickly. It literally takes me about 2 minutes to move from playing PS3 in my room, with the amazing sound system, to in the living room, with the big screen TV - or to pack it up in a tote-bag and carry it to a friend's house. Of course, it's not something that's going to really mean much to hardcore PC gamers, who usually spend their time playing games by themselves (I kid. I kid. :chuckle:), but there are plenty of reasons consoles are still around, and will be for a long, long time.
Might as well get used to it and stop being so elitist. Some people simply enjoy playing their games on consoles. We're all friends, here.
Plus with a console you can play with your friends in the same room.
Or at least you COULD. Co-op is quickly going the way of the dodo bird.
It reminds me of the coca-cola experiment where some dude was assigned to find the perfect coke formula and expecting a bell-curve, instead he discovered there is no perfect coke, only perfect cokes. In otherwords there may be polarities people hover around but there's no single method that works for everyone. Unfortunately the game industry has not caught on. Either that or they want to make sure everyone playing together has to own their own system and connects online. Sharing is too economical.
@oneironaut- I see what you're saying, but I find it very unlikely that PC gaming will go to waste anytime soon. I doubt that console gaming will either. And I apologise if I came off as elitist, I was only trying to bring my opinion to the table. Console gaming and PC gaming both have advantages and disadvantages, and what you choose is ultimately up to you and your preferences. I personally think that if you were only going for multiformat games, a PC would be better suited for you. I own and regularly play on my own consoles and they are by no means worse than a PC. I find that the communities on PC games tend to be a but more welcoming, though that's probably just because chatting in-game is a bit easier, and that they are a little bit more creative due to mods, custom maps, etc. Obviously, if your gaming needs are more suited to that of a console for whatever reasons, it would be wise to buy a console.
tl;dr- PC's and consoles both have their own advantaged, but I would suggest that you at least consider a PC, before you decide on what you're going to do.

But, if you had to choose between those two, I'd say it depends on what you're into. I think the PS3 has a wider variety of games than the Xbox 360. Also, is your avatar Inori from Guilty Crown? ^_^

My opinion may be a little biased, but I'm with Oneironaut. They are both great systems, but I believe that you get what you pay for and the fact that Xbox may currently be cheaper, you still have to buy the extra bells and whistles whereas the PS3 comes with everything.
Also, Blu-ray is not just for watching movies. Blu-ray discs can hold up to 50gb of data whereas the Xbox still uses DVD's which only get around 7.5gb. So if you have a game like Metal Gear Solid 4 (great game btw), it would take around 5 or more discs to put it on the Xbox. I believe LA Noire takes 3 discs. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection comes in 1 disc on PS3 whereas the Xbox version has 2 discs. But this also means you have to sit through a couple of minutes of downloading data (which is hardly a big deal).
The graphics are the same. I played Grand Theft Auto 4 on my PS3 and my cousins Xbox 360 and I literally didn't see a difference.
I believe how the controller fits in your hand is completely just based on opinion. I personally prefer the PlayStation controllers since I'm use to them.
By the way, Xbox controller needs batteries which you need to replace. The PlayStation controllers don't need batteries because you can recharge them.
If you are just looking for online gameplay, then Xbox may be the way to go. Xbox has been out a little bit longer so they have a bigger fan-base, which also means that it's likely your friends have an Xbox too so you can play with them. The PlayStation Network is also free however, unless you get PlayStation Plus which allows you to get games for cheaper.
Also, there is also a design fail on the Xbox. The power cord has a huge box.
The only reason why Xbox has more games is because Xbox will often pay the developers a huge amount of money to get the game first. GTA Episodes from Liberty City came out a few months later for PS3, not because it was Sony's fault but because Microsoft wanted it on their system first. They have more games also because they have been out a little longer.
