When someone mentioned CIV III, one of my great favs, I couldn't help but bring up a new game slightly inspired by Sid's franchise, called SPORE. It's by 'ol Will Wright, and it meshes the ideas of Black and White, the Civilization series, and even the Sims to a certain degree. While it might make creationists 'irky', it's definately a great leap into ambition, ala Molyneux, but I'm certain Wright will (get it??? GET IT???) deliver.

      READ. I command you.

P.S. Played Zelda: OoT earlier today, and while the music is nothing short of amazing, the common tracks that play in houses can really get annoying.

I'll bet 20 bucks that at least 90 percent of you remember--albeit disturbingly--most of the songs in the game, save the temples.

And yes, the Fire Temple theme was awesome.

      yey videogames, I like:

Prince of Persia 1 & 2 (not the new ones, they're ok though)
      Flashback
      Another World
      Bermuda Syndrome
      Heart of Darkness
      Abes Oddysee/Exodus
      Blackthorne

      -see a pattern?

      New stuff:
I have to be boring and mainstream and say Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and GTA series' - but hey, they are undeniably very cool games. The new Prince of Persia games are cool, cept that the art director is obviously a dickhead. How else would a nu-metal soundtrack sneak its way into the warrior within?

Oh and someone else mentioned it earlier in this thread: ICO - that game is truly stunning - Can't wait for the 'sequel'.

      - Silent Hill 1, 2, 3, and 4 kick ass

      - GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas rock

      - Mortal Kombat was pretty cool too

      - Fable was awesome, until you beat it. It could have used a bit more for replay value

      - Morrowind, I could play that game non stop for a week and probably not be anywhere close to having completed everything in it

      - Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past was really cool, at the time at least

      - Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was cool too, I haven't played anything more recent

      - Perfect Dark rocked

      - Starcraft is such an awesome multiplayer game, as is Diablo II

      - World of Warcraft is awesome too

There's probably some others that I'm leaving out, but oh well. And I won't get into classics, because that would result in a list too big.

Shadow Hearts: 1 & 2: These two games quite possibly are the greatest RPG's in existance. The stories are well developed, as are the characters who have colorful personalities. This series is a must own for the PS2.

The Metal Slug Series: Not much to say except,

Super Mario World: This game is the best platformer ever.

King of Fighters: Possibly the best fighting series out there. Each game is actually unique unlike MK and Tekken which are nothing more than rehashes.

Well my favourite games change all the time, but here are some:

Zelda: OoT - Only game that made me cry as a kid (The ending). And I do, amazingly, remember most of the songs. The Song of Time and Song of Storms were my favourites.

Legend of the Heaven Sword - Best RPG ever created, even if it was in another language, now a TV show. I haven't played the LHS II-IV yet but I heard that they aren't as good.

Chrono Trigger - Good battle system.

FFX - More for the graphics, music, and voice system then the storyline. I don't know about Yuna havin personality though. It would annoy me to heck when someone makes a big long speech and all she says is: "Okay!"

FFIII/VI - Possibly the best FF

Mario 64/DS - Hehe great game.

Red Alert 1&2 - The only RTS that I really liked. Old school battle systems with modern weapons and none of that swords and arrows crap. I haven't played 3 yet but it looks good.

It took me forever to find that soundtrack! I absolutely loved the song in the Fire Temple. The Forest Temple had some pretty haunting music, too. All the music in OoT ruled!

      Wee, nostalgia!

      1) The GTA Series
      2) Return to Castle Wolfenstein series (including ET and RTCW: 3D)
      3) *most* of the Zelda Series
      4) Diablo/Dungeon Siege
      5) The X-Files Game (But I've lost it and cannot find it... Anyone have a download link?)

I love first person shoorter games, but America's Army sucks. I don't like console, I play purely PC games.

Enemy Territory rocks. I spent many an hour on that game trying to get to 3 star general lol.

But if you like FPS and don't like consoles, does that mean you don't play Halo? That's the king of 1st person shooters!

I hate all consoles. With a few exceptions, but I really really want to try halo if my cheap father will decide to get me an X-Box.

I'ma gonna label favorite games by the games I've played the most (best replay value.)

      1. Counter-Strike

      2. StarCraft/Brood War

      3. Halo (Halo 2 didn't last as long for me)

      4. Grand Theft Auto 3 (much more so than vice city, cuz the gameplay was the same, eventually becoming redudant)

But yeah...the top 2 on my short list must have consumed entire some weeks of my life.

I can't believe I forgot this one on my list. The Grim Fandango is one of the best games ever made indeed.

I just remembed actually, you could just get it on your PC

Go download the demo, I believe it has practically everything you'd want from the game anyways. The first 2 missions (The 2nd mission being the best) and multiplayer over the internet on Blood Gultch (No reason to play any other map in the first place).

As long as you have a good computer that should do it.

That is an understatement. Halo: CE for the PC is one of the worst console-to-PC ports I have ever encountered. Tell me how a game that runs sufficiently on 64 megs of ram on the Xbox needs 16 times (1 Gig) that amount to run smoothly on 1028x768? Even 800x600 chugs on half that amount (512). The 9800 Radeon also has some problems, due to the base architecture of the game--but then again, the Nvidia chips seem to fail as well in many areas.

Now sure, TVs run on different display settings, but this was ridiculous. That's why they're taking a good amount of time for Halo 2 on the PC, so that it's more accessible to the common audience.
