Demons Souls:
for PS3:
a truly sadisticly evil game for people who enjoy dying a fucking lot. This game will show you NO mercy and will make you die. There is a story, but you dont really play the game for the story. Save the world from demons blah blah. The demons themselves, however, will kill you lots of times. YOu WILL get addicted once you started, unless you suck so much you cant make it past the first level, which is difficult. Many people say once you've beaten the 50-100 hour game, you just started. I agree, you can play New game+ and ++ and +++ and ++++ and so on, each more difficult.
Now i talk about dying A.K.A 90% of the game. When you die, you lose 50-25% of your hp, you can get it back once you beat a boss, or complete an online aspect.
You thought that was all, man, i JUST STARTED. the online. There are 3 major aspects to it. I'll start with summoning. You can summon another player to try and help you beat a level you WILL be stuck on. Once you help someone beat a level, you get souls (EXP).
Invading is when you forcefully enter another persons game and try to kill them, and try to escape Soul (dead) form. Many of these people are strong, and you can cheat them, by following them without them seeing, or run up to them and break their armor. once you reach a certain level, you can go to a certain level, where most of the invaders are, and just stay there until they come.
now dueling, the same thing as invading, except with permission.
I barely got started on the many many many things this game has to offer, so ill say many other things you can do
- kill any NPC character
-collect 100s of swords
- have a custom armor/ sword set thats right for you
-die a lot
- die some more.
- did i mention this game is hard?

Snake Rattle n Roll
It's for the original NES, and came out again on Sega while after.
You play a snake, you have to navigate a series of levels, eating "Pibbles" and avoiding various enemies, then open a door and go through it. The game was so far ahead of it's time. The graphics are isometric "3D" like Marble Madness, which occasionally adds to it's difficulty because it makes judging distances difficult. The Pibbles change on every level, at first they just roll around, then they run, jump, splat, fly, helicopter, and there is even an underwater level where they swim. Enemies range from vinyl records to toilet seats to bells and giant frozen feet. Really surreal and amazing graphics for such a primitive system. Unlike most games, the creatures are extremely varied, so it keeps it fresh.
The first two levels are deceptively easy, but this is by a wide margin the hardest game I've ever played. Some of the pibble types are hard to catch, there are levels where you have to jump on magic carpets that intermittently vanish. You have to navigate water jets that push you onto high places while battling a current. And there is one place where you have to jump around a corner, four blocks down, and four blocks across, from a slanted, slippery piece of ice.
I've actually never beaten it. I got to the 10/11 level, but couldn't make that last jump, and I play with a game genie because most levels you have to beat in 99 second, which is really rushing it, and you have limited lives, but it's so much fun. I both freeze the timer and use unlimited lives. You can use an emulator, but there is nothing quite like the feel of the NES :D
This is the level that I've never been able to beat, you see why this is often considered the hardest game ever made

Waaaayy back in the day, even before I got my NES from my older cousin, I had a Commodore 64 in my room, and I loved that thing to death! Here's two of the best obscure games from it:

There's an area which I could have sworn I remembered being in this game, but which I now can't find on the map or in any gameplay videos. Regardless, This is one of only several Commodore 64 games that stand out in my mind.

HOLY LIVING FUCK. This game was amazing. I used to play this all the time. This game more than any other stands out in my mind when I think about the Commodore 64. It's a side scroller, the idea is you play as a ninja and you have to move up through the levels of a castle clearing rooms of enemies as you go. So simple, and yet it was addictive.

I remembered playing this game on the nintendo 64, but I had no clue what It was called. For the longest time I wanted to figure out what game it was, but I didn't even remember it too well. So the question went unanswered, as I remembered it from time to time. Then today, a few of my coworker's friends were up at the station trying to install a new stereo receiver in the one's car. We got talking about video games at one point, so I figured I'd describe the game to him and see if it rang any bells. Within a minute he knew exactly what I was talking about. Gauntlet Legends. Frickin awesome game, I'm gonna buy it ASAP.

That game was a trailblazer. I played that shit on coin-op in the arcade. It was the first arcade game where you could save your character!
I'd like to play Abe's Oddysee (1st reply) along with the other Oddworld games. I played Munch's Oddysee and it was great, one of my favorite games (although I admit I haven't played many). The world feels unique, the atmosphere is extremely dark and disturbing and gets you involved in the game's story. You play switching between 2 characters: Munch, a purple swimming creature who is slow on land, and Abe, who can't swim but is quick on land. Both have specialized powers. You can switch between them as you make your way through a map. The game has a good balance of puzzle solving and enemy fighting. Also, the enemies are hilarious. Especially the armless 'boss' creatures who are like caricatures of those big money-obsessed CEO's. Also, there are these little creatures called Fuzzles that Munch has to rescue a few times, that make this high-pitched 'me me me me' sound. They're the cutest creatures I've seen in a game.

Valkyria Chronicles:
For PS3:
You play as Welkin and recurit in the miltitia of the Galian Army. Then you play battles blah blah that are really fun. This game is terrific! And very difficult.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape
One of my first platformer games, and still my all-time favorite. First thing's first, the music. The music was just fucking awesome. Used a lot of varied precussion, particularly congas and tabla, but mixes in other elements like woodwinds, acoustic bass, piano, you name it. Graphics in this game were about par for it's day; 3-D models were very simple. Rather than fighting this like almost everything else, this game works with that limitation instead, creating a more impressionistic artistic style that I have always loved this game for. This style blends so well with the unique musical style of the game. Gameplay is wonderful. Control feels much more solid than a lot of platformers I've played. Pretty much everything about this game kicks ass. I will always love Ubisoft for this.
Also, It's all about the N64 version. No ps1, no dreamcast.
I'd say the entire Castlevania series :)

Resident Evil (Classics)
Here's what people (new generation gamers in particular) would say:
Stupid camera angles
Not enough ammo/healing supplies
Awkward controls
No over the shoulder aim
etc etc etc
This goes for anything before RE4. I consider them classics because of their survival-horror. I picked the trailer from Resident Evil Remake (from the original) because it's one of the scariest.
Metal Gear Solid 1
The characters look like "legos", referring to the graphics from 1998 which this was actually top of the line back then. These graphics in my opinion are really good for their time.
The cut-scenes are too long.
The plot might be complicated, but it's no reason to dislike the game.
