Time of EVE is amazing, and I highly recommend it. I watched the movie, which is most likely just a compilation of the 6 episodes.

I've watched quite a few anime, and really enjoyed most of them. It's not easy picking only three, but I think these are my favourite:

Death Note - Awesome story. Made me wish I had a Death Note of my own.

Code Geass - Again, the main reason I like this anime is because of its story.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Though some might find this anime a bit confusing or repetitive, I think it kicks butt. I especially like how every story arc starts out calm and cheerful, and slowly keeps getting darker and more violent.

You want a death note of you own?
      Haven't you seen the consequences?
you'll go all Light and kill all of your best friends and make your own father die. you're sick but I love you
Have you tried Deadman Wonderland? its 12 episodes and it can go head to head versus Death Note, yeah. its that good.
you should watch the first episode and see if you like it, its violent yet the story is so amazing, and touching. try it out if you have the time

I think I wouldn't use my Death Note in the same way Light did, but instead kill everyone in a different way so I don't raise suspicion and don't have to kill my friends to save my own life.

Yes, I have watched Deadman Wonderland. In fact, I recently watched it for the second time. I think it's quite awesome, but there should be a second season. The manga goes on where the anime ended, and is still ongoing.

Oh I really liked Steins;Gate. It gets really crazy but the ending is amazing and pulls the entire series together. I also like the girl who leapt through time. Both are time travel shows but are way better than what you get in the stereotypical ones you see a lot.

I picked out my top ten and got a really good mix of them. There are probably a lot of others just as good maybe even better but I can't remember them all at the moment.

      1. Angelic Layer - It is one of those classic sporting/fighting shows where the hero is an underdog but gives it everything they got to try and win. The twist is that the game they play uses futuristic dolls that are controlled by thought, so no one really gets hurt but the steaks are high and the characters are compelling so you still really feel motivated for wanting the hero win. And her goals are far more than just wanting to be the best.

      2. Spice and Wolf - This is about a traveling merchant who meets a wolf goddess and they travel around together. This is is a fantasy setting but it's very, very limited magic. The only magic you really see is that the 'goddess' turns into a wolf a couple of times and it has its cost. I say that because really the wolf girl could be a normal human and the show would happen about the same way it does, though she is very wise for having lived so long. It is really about the adventures of the merchant and how they team up to sell and trade stuff. I think it is really enjoyable because they deal with real economics and trade that is historically accurate(thought in a fantasy world), so its really interesting.

      3. Aria the Animation - This show takes place on a teraformed mars that really looks like it might be set in Vienna Italy back in its prime. It is about people who row gondolas of all things, and they are a tour company that take people around the city through all the canals that run through it. It is a slow pace story about the interactions of people but those interactions are very good.

      4. Haibane Renmi - This one is about life and death, and about letting go and the things that hold us back. It doesn't have much action and is lighthearted at most moments but then digs down deeper to some very serious and thought provoking ideas.

      5. Gunbuster - This is an old movie and sadly you can only find it in Japanese with subtitles, but it is still very good. It is an action space movie with robots and stuff and it isn't the greatest but has probably one of the best endings I have seen in a movie and so I include it as one of my top ten.

      6. Deathnote - This is one of those series that there is a twist in every episode and the twist is usually really cool. It is a battle of wits to death between investigates trying to solve the hardest case in the world, and the criminal who can kill anyone at any time without leaving evidence and all he needs is to have seen them once. It is great and compelling but slows down a little towards the end but then have a huge ending that makes it all worth it.

      7. Steins;Gate - Things get totally crazy in this one. It is about time traveling and how every thing you do in the past has ripples that effect the future. The hero ends up trying to fix things he had changed and finds it insanely difficult to untangle the time mess he had created.

      8. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - This is a really sad series but also lighthearted and fun along the way. It is about Tokyo experiencing a 8.0 earthquake and a girl and her brother has to travel through the ruined and chaotic city to get back home to their parents. By the end of the show you are really connected to the characters and the ending has a big impact.

      9. Princess Tutu - This is a really silly but fun show that has a ton of character development that you might not expect from a show where the characters battle each other using ballet. If you enjoy fairy tales or ballets you will probably love this one.

      10. Ouran High School Host Club - This is one of the most hilarious shows I have seen. It is about a group of rich guys who have nothing better to do than entertain rich woman in their free time by running the schools host club. There is one normal character and the rest of the cast start off so out of touch with the real world that it results in crazy and funny situations. Though in between all the crazy and funny things they do there is still a lot of development going on in the characters.

Currently watching the anime Monster, i haven't in a few months though because i want to savor it XD I'm about half way through (there are a LOT of episodes though) it's really amazing The first, about, 10 episodes go pretty slow but after that it's really phenomenal.

And yes omg Death Note was so amazing (i finished it in like 2 or 3 days), i literally cried when it was over and was depressed about it for a week after XD

Hehe, funny that. I tried Monster and pretty much gave up on it after the first 10 episode precisely because it was slow. Honestly, am I missing out on something really great?

I watched Mushishi and I'm really disappointed I can't watch like 400 episodes. I usually prefer 26 episode series so they story-arc can be nice and succinct but Mushishi is an anthology and I love it to death.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

So if I were to check it out, you'd recommend the manga and not the anime?

Nuu. I am so angry with 26 episode series. My favourite anime 'Angel Beats' could have done SO much better and in-depth if it wasn't for the stupid small episodes thingy.

For all you death note fans out there someone made an alternate ending using the manga pages. It's quite interesting and I, personally, enjoy it better than the original. Note: it was edited to read from left to right.

Damn I just finished Mirai Nikki. I was reading the manga nearly from the first days it was made on (just random luck) and I already loved it back then, but to believe the anime was actually even better than the manga... The studio did an incredible job. Mirai Nikki is even my new #1 anime, I actually like it more than Elfen Lied, didn't think the day I'd say that would come so early. It's just a total must-watch, even more for those who like their animes deep and psychological.

Angel beats needs a second season. Or a remake with more episodes so it's not so incredibly rushed at the end. I haven't had a chance to watch the OVAs yet, I think there's a few alternate endings.

Ergo Proxy: Cyber-punk apocalyptic anime. By far my favorite anime to date. Great story, characters, its just amazing.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: All the characters are depressing and you really cant grow attached to them, which is the point, because this show is fucking ridiculous (in a good way).
Eureka Seven: Pretty good mecha with a great story. Romance involved, but as a guy, it made the story tie well together.
Gurren Lagann: It's been mentioned several times and I agree, this show is siiicckkk!

      Some manga:
Bakuman: Written by and illustrated by the same people who did death note. Pretty good story.
Cage of Eden: Survival horror manga [ongoing as of this post], great story, characters, you get really attached.
Gantz: So filthy and gory, and you hate like half the characters, but the main protagonists are bad asses and deals with life after death.
Tough: A fighting manga that's been going on for years. Deals with real world fighting styles but intense fights.

      ^ Oh, I love Bakuman.

Also, just curious, do you guys watch the dubbed versions or subbed versions more often?

Subbed - far more emotional intensity and investment in the Japanese voice actors. Though anything with Steve Blum, I like dubbed: Mugen in Samurai Champloo, Spike in Cowboy Beebop etc.

Subbed for nearly everything. There are some rare exceptions like Hellsing, can't stand Hellsing in the original japanese dub.
Personal Records so far: Max lucids per day: 2 | Max lucids per week: 4 | Max lucids per month: 8 | Max dreams recalled in one night: 17
      Longest lucid dream: ~35min | Highest flight: zoomed out of common existence [WTF?] | Fastest speed: FTL | DILD/EILD/DEILD [X] | WILD/VILD [X] | MILD/FILD/HILD [ ]
