So.... Portal 2 is out....

Anyone wanna buy it for me so we can play Co-op?

Does you not have freends? A friend and I bought it last night at midnight we've played about an hour of the co-op so far. It's about as good as the original thus far, and playing with a friend is always better. I was also pleasantly surprised GLaDOS is still entertaining. I was afraid they would try too hard and her comments would fall short. She's the same witty douche bag as before

I dont have any video game consoles (except for a Ps2 collecting dust) but I played the first Portal before and it was fun, I thoroughly enjoyed the puzzles.

Im a little confused on what technically a virgin means too.

I must tell you that it feels great solving puzzles with friends. There's like this huge sense of accomplishment.

Game is brilliant. Only about 6 hours in the singleplayer, but they all rocked. The ending was absolutely spectacular. Coop so far is very good too, I'm through 3 worlds. There are no air tunnels in singleplayer though

No air tunnels in single player? Did you play single player? There are definitely air tunnels.

Beat this last night, took me 10 hours, but I played the whole game stoned, so that could contribute to my slowness. The game was pretty god damn awesome and the humor was spot on.

This is disagree with. I found this one to be much more challenging. However I did notice that I picked up on the puzzles much faster this time around since I was already good at thinking with portals from portal 1. That might contribute to why you'd THINK it's less challenging, but if anyone sat down with Portal 2 before ever playing Portal 1, shit would be very hard.

That being said, I really do hope they put in some advanced versions of maps. Gonna start downloading some user maps in the mean time. Need a good playground map.

I did, they were just in there for no reason really lol
Completely unrelated story line but had to teleport around to get to some places

Totally did. I had a couple nights of portal dreams. Sadly I was too stoned to remember anything more than a few fragments of them.

They don't play a part of the game as a game mechanic.

I'm getting it for my birthday May 9th.
And its nice to hear GLaDOS still has that unforgettable sense of humor.

I bought it last night. So far I have defeated most of the dinosaurs, but my grenade launcher got clogged. The zombies are pretty hard to kill.

It's not as challenging as the first.

I dunno. The first had some tricky stuff. But some of those levels fucked me pretty hard.

Spoiler for Portal Dream:

There is a level where you have to scan a broken turret, and that's what my dream revolved around. Short version is me and a crew of at least 6 were on a job (bank robery). We all got scaned simultaneously so we could become the same person.

• Imagine you and 6 of your friends share the same body, and you can not only see your perspective of what's going on, but that of your friends as well. They can see your view, too, so that's a VERY efficient crew as far as robbn shit goes.

So here were are on the job and the FBI <? show up in this choppa and just start mown us down with this mini. Only thing is, I didn't get killed because I was jumping through perspectives tryn to find the best way out of this situation, and by the time I used my own I was already out of harms way. So yeah, neato dream.

Air tunnels are not used as part of the puzzles. You just jump into them occasionally and they transport you around the Aperture facility.

I thought the game was great from an artistic standpoint; the script made me laugh out loud plenty of times, the characters were great, the style of the thing was great, the music was well done, etc. etc.

The only place I found it lacking was in actual gameplay. Valve seemed to forget that they were making a videogame; they removed chambers because they broke up cinematic flow, they took a lot of fun or more challenging stuff out because their playtesters were numpties (near the end of the game they even had to edit a level because some players had forgotten that they can travel to distant places with portals; why on Earth should the game be made to accommodate these people?). Of course, the correct way round to do things when making a game is to get the gameplay grounded and then shape the story around it, not vice-versa. They should really have tackled the difficulty issue first and more imaginatively than 'let's make it so that idiots can get through each chamber under five minutes'. It wouldn't have been hard to include optional challenging chambers for 100% completion but not vital to the story. Hopefully this'll be rectified with DLC.

lol, it was hardly the most obscure statement ever?

Marvo is totally right. You can check out some old trailers, there were supposed to be air tubes in chambers which you could use to suck things through and they'd come out the other end. These are not in the final game as a mechanic; you get cubes out of tubes and you travel through one at one point, but they are visual elements.

I think I'll play the original Portal until Portal 2 comes down in price...
