The season 2 cast is out! I'm so excited! I've included brief descriptions below each picture for anyone who hasn't read the second books, or who forgets. No spoilers. (I have fun doing this, I don't even care if no one reads or looks!)
Stannis Baratheon - Stephen Dillane:

The deceased king Robert's brother, who believes he is entitled to the crown. He is Lord of the isolated island of Dragonstone. An extremely uptight man who never smiles and believes brothels should be outlawed.
Craster - Robert Pugh:

A 'Wildling' (someone who lives North of The Wall) who marries his daughters and is a friend to the Knight's Watch. There are several reasons to hate him.
Gilly - Hannah Murray:

One of Craster's daughters.
Davos Seaworth (The Onion Knight) - Liam Cunningham:

An ex-smuggler who lives on Dragonstone with Stannis. He was granted a knighthood after saving many from a siege years ago by smuggling them onions.
Balon Greyjoy - Patrick Malahide:

Theon's Greyjoy's father. He's the ruler of the Iron Islands, a harsh land with harsher people who worship the Drowned God and have an affinity for sailing.
Yara Greyjoy - Gemma Whelan (They've changed Asha's name to Yara in the show.)

Balon's daughter and Theon's sister. An ambitious tomboy who fully embraces the harsh lifestyle of her home.
Brienne of Tarth - Gwendoline Christie!

Nicknamed 'Brienne the Beauty' in sarcasm. In the books, she is a hideous, large-boned, small-breasted woman who's an excellent fighter and acts like a man. She's extremely self-conscious about her appearance.
Margaery Tyrell - Natalie Dormer!

The sister of Loras Tyrell (the pretty blonde knight who's secretly gay). A very well-liked, sociable girl.
Lady Melisandre (The Red Woman) - Carice van Houten!

An adviser to Stannis and a rumored sorceress. Nicknamed 'The Red Woman' because she dresses entirely in red, clothing to match her vibrant red hair and the ruby she wears at her throat. She's devoutly religious, and worships a god called the 'Lord of Light', who she believes wants Stannis to reign over the 7 kingdoms. And she's willing to do all she can to appease the Lord.
-----------------
I'm happy with all of the choices, except for perhaps Brienne. I suppose I'll have to see how she turns out in whatever makeup they put her in, because she does not look ugly enough to me, and seems to have a regular build. The actress even looks pretty in some of the pictures that showed up.
Davos is aged a decade or so, just like most of the characters who in the books were in their 30s or so. I did imagine Davos to be quite younger, and he doesn't look right to me.
Melisandre looks perfect. It seems like I imagined that exact face while reading the books. She's attractive, but looks to have the sternness required, and she looks like red hair would suit her magnificently.
I'm also happy with Margaery. She was someone who, in the books, I didn't really imagine very clearly, so I have no mental picture of what she's supposed to look like. But the actress seems perfect. She's pretty, looks original, and captures the personality. I find it interesting that they chose Natalie Dormer, as her role in this show has similarities to her role in a major movie she was in.
Stannis and Balon both look rightly stern and uptight people. So I'm happy with those choices.
I'm quite happy with the choice for Yara. She looks almost exactly as she's supposed to, in my mind. I liked the name Asha better though. They changed the name because they thought people would confuse Osha and Asha. Osha is barely a main character. I wish they had thought ahead and changed Osha's name instead.
