Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said by Philip K. Dick (mentioned in Waking Life) Although I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, I loved this book. The main character, formerly a late night tv host with some 30 million viewers per night, suddenly finds himself in a reality where not even his close friends recognize his once famous face. Set in a futuristic US major city, anyone without proper proof of idenity is immediately sent to detention centers for life, so the stakes are high as the character (his name escapes me right now) tries to regain his identity and figure out what exactly has happened. My summary kinda sucked...but you have to read this!

This will be tough........I guess I'll have to recommend "A Fine and Private Place" by Peter S Beagle, and "The Seventh Son" by Orson Scott Card.....Almost anything by Orson Scott Card is good, except for "Eaters of the Dead". It wasn't quite up to par for Card...

Well I'm a big book person.. I could make dozens of recommendations.. but for now. I'll go for The Giver.. most people I know read it in school.. but if you haven't it's a MUST READ!! Basically this book is about a society free of pain, fear, war and hatred. But there is also no free will.. people are assigned their future jobs at the age of 12 and then given spouses and 2 children. The main character is Jonas.. and he is picked to become the new "Giver". The Giver holds all the memories of "pain, fear, war, hatred, happiness.. everything that the community does not know. It's an awesome book about Jonus' struggle between the society's lack of passion for life and his own tiredness of his society... and what Jonus and The Giver decide to do about this. Other books I give a thumbs up to- The Great Gatsby, In My Hands(WWII novel), Siddhartha, The Sun Also Rises, and if you enjoy murder mysteries- practically any Mary Higgins Clark book..

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Rober M. Pirsig It's the best book I've ever read. It really has something to say. Very philosophical. Nice thoughts about quality and other stuff. It's definitely a book every person should read several times. I've only read it once but I'm planning to read it again soon. It's just not possible to recommend this book enough.

It's just not possible to recommend this book enough. That man should be given an award. He really had something to say. You should read the Kushiel Trilogy. It is an art all in itself. The book is beautifly worded. Also it's for perverts too. It is erotic fiction. I love the storyline. It is so in depth using many different theological ideas to create a world unlike our own.

I'm more of a Fantasy and Science Fiction person, but I'm working on some other stuff... mainly because I have to. Eddings: start with Polgara the Sorceress or Belgarath the Sorcerer (or you could start on the Belgariad or Mallorean series, but I read those two first and liked them very much) Janny Wurts: "The Cycle of Fire". It's just awesome, but it took me a while to read the first time. Very entertaining! (and I think I'll buy it!) Garth Nix: his books are quick-reading and for a more young-adult audience but they're still origonal and entertaining. Books of his that I've read include "Shade's Children" and the trilogy of "Sabriel" "Abhorsen" and "Lireal" but apparently there's a new book out that I have to have! Orson Scott Card is good, too. I've only read Enders Game, though, but am hoping to read more. Robin Hobb: Just start with "Assassin's Apprentice" and read all of her books. The Farseer Trilogy, The Liveship Traders trilogy, and The Tawny Man trilogy are all awesome and I'm working on the last book of the last trilogy. Too bad that's the end of this series, but oh well. Frank M. Robinson: I've only read "The Dark Beyond the Stars" but really really liked it and read it several times. There's so much more, but I can't think of anything

I recently read The Beach by Alex Garland. When the movie adaptation came out a few years back it was pretty hyped, so most people have probably seen it, but the book is really good (and it goes without saying, much better ). It's intelligently written and moves along at a roaring pace. I can honestly say there wasn't a boring page throughout the whole thing, and that's pretty rare. It's also different to the movie in a number of key places, so you can enjoy one without spoiling the other

I'm reading Fahrenheit 451 right now, it's pretty cool so far. I highly, highly, highly recommend Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Fantastic book. Probably my current favorite.

The Lois Duncan books are pretty good, as are the Lois Lowry. I've read them all I think they're great Highly recommend them. They're short, yeah, but I still like them.

If you want a good summary of it, there's one on the page that the link goes to, made by the author. If like tons of creepy stuff or supernatural stuff, it's a must read.

I tend to not read fiction, for some reason, didn't have much interest. I am a big English fan. I find Self-Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson very interesting to read, analyze, and probe. I still haven't figured it all out yet.

It's a fan fiction though, so it's a bit different. And though I love the games, the story is still really good too. And it's not based on any of the games, so it's original work.

I usually dislike school assigned books, but the few I actually liked were actually Tale of Two Cities, Native Son, and Catcher in the Rye. If you are going to read the Ender series by Card, read Ender's Shadow first. This way you don't have to read Ender's Game (The original) and even if you do, this order is a lot better in my opinion. Bradybaker that books sounds interesting, I'm a big sci-fi/fantasy reader so I'll try to remember to check it out.

I'd reccomend both of the Dirk Gently novels (the first one is better, though). It's called "Dirk Gently's Holistic Dective* Agency" and the second is called "The Long, Dark Teatime of the Soul". They're by Douglas Adams and are just good [if not better] than his DectivHitchiker novels. *For some reason I can't spell that word right now.

I used to work at a book store with 3 other bibliophiles, I'm obsessed with books. I've just completed: Ray Bradbury-(brilliant author, master of the short story, and weaver of whimsy) Something Wicked This Way Comes If you're just getting into bradbury, I'd highly reccomend The Martian Chronicles, it wil stay with you for years.
