      Dead Space 2

so what do you guys think of it?

I've only played for about 30 minutes and I think I've already given up on it. It just reminds me why I gave up on the first one half-way through. I get stuck, and I end up spending way too long trying to work out where to go or what to do when i could be shooting stuff. I play FPS to shoot stuff, not to do puzzles.

It also just seems to be Dead Space 1 rehashed. Nothing has changed, there haven't been any improvements graphic-wise that I can tell, they've basically just made another Dead Space 1 game to try and cash out on it.

My other problem is, I select the easiest difficulty because I'm a casual gamer and like to have lots of health and ammo, and for single-player games to be real easy because I can't be bothered with the hassle of dying and re-doing things - I just want to shoot stuff basically. So I select "Casual" the easiest difficulty and straight away I die just from a couple of hits. Easy difficulty is supposed to be exactly that - EASY. In fact, a lot of game developers do this and it really annoys me.

Don't get me wrong it's a good game, it has decent graphics and works that horror scare-factor angle really well and the weapons are really sweet too... but those are the things that piss me off about it, and make me not want to play it.

Mate I loved it. I even had a dream about it lol. I wasn't Lucid I just remembered being eaten by necromorphs, was awful!

I think EA did a good job of it. I played it on the second from easiest level although I found it well hard towards the last 5 chapters. I loved the cinematic style game play moments where you fly through space and stuff.
To make the game easier try and save as much as possible and stomp on all the enemies for ammo and health, buy loads from the store if your still struggling.
I think you should stick with it even though there are some frustrating moments, its well worth it for the Juicy bits!

I thought the graphics were amazing. I was running highest settings at 1920x1080 and had no drop in FPS what-so-ever.

I was playing on Normal and I thought that was pretty easy. I'm playing through the 2nd hardest difficulty right now and I'm doing just fine.

And the "puzzles" in Dead Space 2 were simple. If you're really having trouble finding your way through Dead Space, then maybe you should go back to playing Call of Duty.

You do know Dead Space has a way point system that gives you a line to show you were to go?

The only thing I didn't like about Dead Space 2 were the "boss" fights. They didn't really seem like "bosses" but rather "mini-bosses".

I decided to continue playing this after watching a walkthrough for the part i was stuck on. Turns out I needed to hack that machine to get the stasis ability to proceed further... the problem i had though was after failing the hack the first time it wouldn't let me re-hack it.

I just completed the game and it was a lot of fun. I didn't really get stuck after that, and the rest of the game was relatively easy on casual. I think the start of the game was the hardest part. Like you said Slayer, the bosses were more like mini-bosses and after a few upgrades it was piece of cake. I managed to upgrade all my weapons, my weapons of choice being:
-plasma cutter (fully upgraded - good weapon to fall back on, quite strong fully upgraded.... strange though the special "will set enemy on fire" never worked)
-line gun (fully upgraded - for when you need serious damage)
-plasma rifle (semi-upgraded - for when you need to shoot multiple targets fast)
-flamethrower (semi-upgraded - for when you need to burn small critters)
I consider those the most practical weapons to use, its a good combination. The other guns are cool but I prefer this setup.

The graphics really were quite amazing, there was one scene where you could stare out into space and I must have sat there for a good 10 minutes just looking at it going "wow". Everything on highest detail and resolution without any drop in FPS. I'm glad I decided to continue playing and not give up when I got stuck at that one point.
