I do like hits like Boulevard of Broken Dreams or Since You've Been Gone, but hearing them over and over without having any other variety is ridiculous. Those songs you can hear on the radio at any time. When you have a song you like and for me that is New American Classic that isn't played as often on TV or radio you still like it just as much as other music.

Isn't it ridiculous when a person comes over and does not know any of the bands you are talking about. The reason they don't know is they only listen to the radio and TV. I just met a person like that. I thought they were a myth. A friend's friend came over one time and after a while I turned on The Killers. He asks me what I was playing. I told him and he went "Oh I have heard one of their songs." I thought that was normal, but then I asked "Which one?" Worse idea. Mr. Brightside was his answer. I mean I could see someone not knowing who The Killers are, but this person kept going on about bands like Green Day and Kelly Clarkston. I started naming bands like Flogging Molly or The Ataris and he never heard of any of them. I then asked him how he finds new bands. He says "I watch the new stuff they find on MTV." I have seen some MTV stuff. I have also heard ratings of different songs I liked. Some of them didn't get very high. I asked him what he thought of the songs that MTV gave a bad rating to. He gave the same answers that MTV did. I finally asked him what he thought of some of the other songs on the Green Day album. He couldn't tell me. He never heard any others that the ones played on TV.

That is mainstream to the point of no return. I had never seen anyone like this person before. How can there be someone who only listens to the Radio that plays the same songs over and over and only listen to one station have a mind of his own? He agrees with what people tell him. I thought these mindless fools only existed on TV.
