IMAGINE movies and computer games in which you get to smell, taste and perhaps even feel things. That's the tantalising prospect raised by a patent on a device for transmitting sensory data directly into the human brain - granted to none other than the entertainment giant Sony.

I don't know if I trust Sony developing such technology, more than say, the US government developing it...

That thought actually scares me. The idea of technology becoming even more a part of our lives. I mean, not that I think technology is bad (not at all), but I think Frank Herbert's books explained it best about how we should only have technology for things we humans can't do with our own hands. i would just feel like one of skinners rats. you know the ones with electricity hooked up to the pleasure centers in the brain... then they're slowly taught to press a big silver bar to get stimulus to the brain...eventually they turn down food, water, and other rats in order to bar press. ahhh yes. we're all rats being toyed with by sony.

I like quotes within quotes. :D :roll: But seriously, I agree with you, Kaniaz. It's like the company's trying to call shotgun or dibs something. Fairly childish when you think of it that way.
