PS3 (FAT) Vs. PS3 Slim

So i have my 360 elite and i like it but i want to get a ps3 because there are a good amount of exclusives i would love to get. well i've been researching the ps3's and i have found that i can only find the ps3 slim. i know there arent big differences other than physical appearance, but i like the ps3 fat's glossy look with touch sensitive buttons ALOT more than i like the ps3 slim's look with physical buttons. i would want to try to find a ps3 but i only find that every where is only selling the ps3 slim. should i just forget about trying to find an old ps3 and just buy a slim or keep looking, and one more thing, what size hard drives do the ps3 have? i know the slim has up to 160 gigs and even has a 320 model.

I have both. Why do I have both? The first gen PS3s had a failure in design and essentially melt a chip on the inside. Paid someone to reflow that, bought a slim, and gave the old one to my wife. Go with Slim.

250 g $399 for maybe a hand full of exclusives - It was fun for a while but, meh.

TheKing: I heard first gen PS3s had some problems but the newer fat ones i heard are pretty good, like one of my friends is the 80GB and hes never had a problem with it within the last year and a half

We've had the original PS3 (fat one) for as long as it's been on the market.

Unfortunately, about a month ago, I finally hooked up the PS3 to the internet to get netflix. My system said I needed to update, so I clicked 'ok' and expected that Sony wouldn't have me download something harmful to my PS3.

And then, the screen became stuck. I turned it off and back on and it was still stuck. After calling them, they told me that it was a hardware problem and for a large fee they could look at it for me. Forget it.

So, we were forced to buy the new (slim one) and I like it. I downloaded the update and no issues.

My recommendation would be to get the new (slim one), so you don't have any old hardware issues.

Go for the slim, no doubt. The "Fat" one as you put it, has too many problems, and it seems as if Sony are actually trying to break people's old PS3s with their dodgy updates. You'd also be saving a bit of money since the old PS3 is a good bit more expensive now.
As for memory, go with whatever you think you'll need. 320GB is overkill as far as I'm concerned, but if you think you're gonna need all that memory for a hard drive then go for it.
