Also, fire chucks are not just more dangerous than poi, they're harder too. So they're about four times as impressive. Tandem fire sticks are pretty swank too. Sorry Omnis but at little beach if you tried to show poi, you'd get laughed at. You have to be a hot chick that's topless to get away with that one.

Your face would get laughed at. I fucking love spinning poi but I'm currently practicing with a staff and it's pretty fucking hard. I burned the fuck out of myself. Everyone was much more impressed with the poi because I actually know how to do it and it's not dangerous. It feels dangerous though, because it burns so hot. The rush I get from fire poi is enough for me, I don't need to impress anyone. That's like people telling me I'd get laughed at for singing folk music because they're screaming thrash metal.

And yes Max I use kevlar.

And yes, omnis is right, they do burn freaking hot. I use lighter fuel instead of charcoal lighter fluid, so it's cleaner. Unfortunately the flames even bigger and hotter. :D

Philo, sorry man but poi and chucks are two different weapons with different areas of skill. Nunchucks are somewhat similar to staff, you can pick them up easily if you have staffing experience. (lol terminology)

Whereas poi are similar to shoge, a less common weapon. Personally, being a nunchaku enthusiast (and having some 6 years of experience to go with them), I find poi much harder. They're much more fluid, and needs a bit more control, as the chain can also wind AROUND your body. :)

And not to mention he's using two of them at once. That's cool, took me a long while to use two chucks at once, and much longer to spin two fire chucks.

I sing folk music and nobody laughs at me. Also, the only person that laughs at my face is me. Everybody else says that I'm handsome. The staff is hard.

I've never seen anyone use only one poi. That would be really retarded. I guess we have different experiences then. I picked up the poi pretty easy the first time. They're more like escrima sticks than anything. You just keep them moving fast and they stay straight. I'd like to see somebody get wrapped up in poi. I'd probably die laughing.

Also, it sounds like you don't actually know how to use nunchakus. You hold them up by the chain when you want to do swirly impressive shit that's useless in a fight. You hold them at the other end when you want to hit something with them. But that's not swirly and impressive. With the fire chucks you light the part you normally hold on fire. That takes quite a bit of getting used to if you're used to them as a weapon.

There is so much wrong with that.

First of all, poi and fire poi are two very different things. It's not easy to keep it 'moving fast', the flame's big and hot, and you have to be careful not to touch you or your clothes.
Secondly, there's the panic factor, most fire players tend to panic when they first start it, no matter how much poi they have used.

And third, I have used nunchaku since I was in 8th grade, and now I'm in university. I know how to fucking use nunchaku, and you hold then NEAR the ends (where the chain connects) for tricks and near the bottom middle part (the sweet spot) of the nunchaku.

You don't hold them near the very end because the reaction from actually hitting something tends to throw the flow, causing you to lose control and probably precious time.
Yes, I've seen Bruce Lee and Lee Barden, but Lee is a fucking god who can do anything and Barden uses special chucks, known as pro chucks.

No offense but you'd really just embarrass yourself trying to educate me about chucks. :shadewink:
