It happens to me too. I just keep thinking that it did happen, because if it didn't, how did it get there? |

Does anyone else have these? I feel like ill have these memories that seem like they totally happened when they didn't. It usually happens when i am just falling asleep, or when i just wake up. the problem is it kind of confuses me with my dream recall. I was just wondering if anyone else has the same thing or if it is just me. |

Alright cool so im not the only one |

i think it's our mind creating a puesdo dream before the body falls asleep, therefore creating a daydream like memory.. |

This thread reminds me of deja vu. I'm still convinced that dreams must predict the future, and that they are our source for deja vus. |

it's kinda like a dream inside itself, huh? i get that a lot. i think it happens when we try to explain something odd happens in our dreams... that or we just get distracted and randomly make up stuff |
|
This used to happen to me a lot...especially as a kid. |

"you will not transform this house of prayer into a house of thieves"
Yeah totally. You just made me realize that this often happens to me when I try to explain something that doesn't make sense. For example, just the other night I had a dream where I had different parents. I should have become lucid, but instead i was able to explain myself as to why my parents were gone... and it made sense at the time. |

I was about to ask this question myself, strangely enough! I often have false memories as I lie trying to get to sleep. I lie there reminiscing about something and then think: hang on, that's complete rubbish! It's how I know I'm about to drop off to sleep so it's quite comforting. In a way it's a sort of reverse lucid dreaming - instead of being awake in a dream, you're dreaming while awake! But yes, it is odd what the brain can do. It makes me think madness is not very far away - the flick of a switch in the brain and we could be convinced we are someone else completely with a load of different memories. |

RC - Check your watch!
Could this be related to the phenomenon of memory footprints? |
|
This is what happens when you experience like, say a week in a LD right? |
|
Hmm, I think this happens to me in my dreams. One time I had a dream about these three girls I was visiting, say. When I arrived at their house, I distinctly remembered visiting them before and promising to visit them again. It seemed very real to me, although I didn't remember anything like that before I saw them. Then when I woke up, I realized that that was the first time I had ever encountered them... and this happens in a lot of my dreams. |

This happened to me yesterday while I was awake :/ I was thinking that I asked my dad something, and I was waiting for a reply. I was going to repeat the question, but I was unsure if I actually asked it. It really confused me! |

I'll get those memories sometimes more than a day after the dream they were in. So i sometimes have to sit down and think my way through the last day or two to make see what's been going on and double check. It can be a big relief or a big disappointment. |

If you were looking for some cool secret message then I'm sorry, because you just wasted precious seconds of your life that you will never get back. ='(
Often in dreams I will remember having done something before. For instance, tonight, I dreamt I took some food from a platter, and while doing so I could remember having taken food from the platter previously. However, I am unsure as to if I'm remembering content from a dream I've had prevously that night or even before that, or if it's memories that are created there and then. |

April Ryan is my friend,
Every sorrow she can mend.
When i visit her dark realm,
Does it simply overwhelm.
I wonder though if we can differentiate between the false memories you have when you are awake but on the verge of sleep, and the false memories you have within dreams which give you the background to the dream and create the impression of time (for instance, being aware that you have lived somewhere for several years when the dream only lasts a few minutes). |

I get them all the time. Last week I was sick, so I literally slept for 5 days straight, and only got up to eat a couple times, and I dreamed SO much, I couldn't even tell the difference between waking reality and dream reality. |
|
i had week of false memories after i watched avatar... |

I used to have theories for all kinds of things like this when i was younger. Like i've said before i've always been obsessed with dreams. I even tryed to keep a dream journal when i didn't even know about LDing i just tryed to keep one because i always thought dreams were cool. |
