SO to start im going to work on my dream recall and journal first. Just to recap...
Telling myself "i am going to wake up and remember my dreams" is a good method to begin trying to recall dreams. And then when wake up lay in bed with my eyes closed to let them 'come back to me' right?
Once i identify my dream signs through my journal how exactly to i pick them out to gain lucidity again? Im i little fuzzy on this concept as i never really understood it much. Apparently other people just see their signs and perform a RC and become lucid. I've tried before but i never do a RC in my dreams. Any tips?
Hey Chewnie
Regarding the first half of your question, your dream signs are just things that show up frequently in your dream and can serve as a sign that you're dreaming. If you see people from your past a lot, or often have dreams about not finishing your homework, or you are always standing in your driveway, these would serve as dreamsigns. I live at school, and I often have dreams that I am back at home. This can serve as a dream sign, and to make sure you do reality checks next time they show up you have to get yourself into the habit of doing reality checks whenever you see, hear, think about, or find yourself talking about your dream sign. This can be hard for things like 'my driveway', so you could try making a drawing or two or taking a photo of it and leaving it around, and little slips of paper that say 'driveway'. Whenever you see the object, and whenver you think about your dreamsign, make sure to do a thorough reality check. You'll find yourself over the day remembering that you had done that RC- which means you should do one then! Whenever you hear mentioned something that reminds you of your DS, reality check again.
Also, when you do your reality checks you should be doing them because you think it's possible that you might be dreaming. Do your reality check fully expecting that it's going to work, because you know that you might be dreaming. Don't just do the motions, but stop what you're doing and try to remember what you're doing, where you've just come from, who you are with and if they should be there, etc. This will raise your awareness, and in your dreams you should be more likely to RC and to recognize those dreamsigns.
