Question How to do a reality check with conviction?

In a lot of guides about the DILD technique I have read it says you have to do reality checks only when you have convinced yourself you are dreaming. So I ask you, how could I possibly convince myself I am dreaming when I obviously am not?

This is a quote from Dreamview's own DILD tutorial (Written by Howie):

By doing reality checks on a consistent basis and with conviction one can come to the realization that you are, when in question, in a dream.

I think you are misinterpreting this. Doing reality checks on a consistent basis means doing them when you are awake! Do them even when you are absolutely sure you are awake. It's through shear repetition that you condition yourself to do it even inside of your dreams. After all, the more you do something in your waking life, the more likely you will dream about it.

The idea is that by habit, you will remember to do a check during a dream, the check will fail, and you will suddenly realize you are dreaming.

When it says "with conviction", it means having faith that the test is accurate, that it will tell you if you are dreaming. You don't have to try to convince yourself that you're dreaming first, but what you do need to do is leave yourself open to the possibility.

Because if you don't trust the test, aren't sufficiently open minded - you are quite capable of explaining it away if it tells you you're dreaming. I've done a nose RC while I was dreaming, but I dismissed it because I thought I must not have been gripping my nose properly.

It's not usually just enough to do simple repetition. You should really take the time to stop and think about what you are doing.

The last thing you want is to find yourself reality checking in a dream and immediately dismissing it.

The best RC's are the physically impossible ones, I find, rather than altered perception methods. I'm fond of the nose-breathing test, and as a backup, testing the resistive forces of things. Easy to accomplish (surreptitiously, if you're worried about such things), and hard to mistake one way or the other, and hard to rationalize with ridiculous dream-logic, as are some other methods.
      Yeah.

How about counting your fingers on your left or right hand on both sides huh?

either on your left or right hand( choose only one hand), count each finger..if you see that you have 5 fingers,:p turn that same hand around and count again"the probability is you wont have the same number of fingers on your other side or your hand will look different..Either two, you well succeed

note: dream scenes change, your attire changes with it. Also check if you're only on underwears most times i look at ma clothing i notice pretty much nakedtivity or hippi clothes have fun!!!!
