      Dream memories enter RL memories?

OK, this is really getting to be annoying. Before I found DV, I didn't think that I dreamed at all, because I only remembered a dream every 1-2 months. Once I found out that I did always dream, and just forgot it, my recall increased to 2-3 dreams a week. After I started keeping a journal, I can usually remember dreams every other night, if not more.

But apparently these new memories weren't correctly flagged as "dream memories". In real life, there have been a few times where I remember seeing something, or "know" something, that I never did. Such as one time, when a friend suggested we go skimboarding at the beach, I thought "I went to the beach yesterday, and the waves were HUGE. Maybe that's not the best for skimboarding". Before I said that, I caught myself, and said "wait a minute, I didn't go to the beach yesterday!" After thinking about it, I vaguely remembered an image of big waves, and remembered that was a dream. Has anyone else had this? I'm probably going to sound like an idiot some time saying things that aren't true...

I've experienced this but by confusing very distant dream memories with equally distant reality memories. It's never been an issue but it has made me pause and think.

Maybe this means that your dreams are very realistic? Which is definitely not a bad thing! Something like this probably won't get out of control or anything, unless you have pre-existing psychological disorders.

I've never had this problem, but that might be because my recall sucks. Whenever I do remember or tihnk about a dream I've had, I always know it's a dream.

This has only happened to me once. I was watching the news (for real) and there was something about 2 people being involved in shark attacks. The next morning I woke up thinking I'd had a dream about a girl being attacked by a shark... to this day I'm still not sure if it really was a dream or if it was my mind tricking me into thinking it was a dream or if it was just a memory from the night before.

I have gotten this a few times, but the situation has usually been clarified by me asking any of the people that I think were involved if it actually happened. Usually I just can't tell if I dreamed/reality about conversations not actions or news events etc. :p

Just yesterday, my mom walked into my room and opened my shutters at the usual time, the light hurt my eyes a bit so I closed them while she talked, then she left. I fell back asleep. Five minutes later she came in again and started opening my shutters, which made me do a double take - didn't she already open them?! I asked her and she just looked at me like I was nuts. Turns out I had had a very realistic false awakening. Too bad I didn't think to RC.

I've had lots of cases where I couldn't tell if something was a dream or happened in real life. Usually I just ask somebody and clear it up right there

Same goes for me over there man. There are times when I just become plain dumb because I was confused whether I had finished by schoolwork or not. There are many of such cases that happens to me, memories of dreams confused with real memories. Usually the memories that interfere with real memories are those that aren't taken down (In my DJ) and those that aren't given any attention to.
I'll have a sig soon, and to anyone who needs one, I have the ability to make nice sigs, but I'm just damned lazy to start work..

Yah, dont' be afraid to ask someone if you're not sure if what you think happened actually happened.

Also, do you write your dreams down? If you're having a problem with this, writing them down could be one way to clarify to yourself, "This is a dream memory." Not only does writing in a DJ help you to recall more dreams, it can help you separate the memories from each other.
