Me too... I mean me and my clone... Me-me-other me. Ugh! Well, I guess we should get back on topic.. *RC*
Here is an updated list of dream signs that I just compiled to read before bed to help me become lucid.(Ordered roughly from most common to least common)
1. Feeling like I've done something I'm not supposed to and someone will be mad.
2. Having sexual interactions
3. Seeing people from Youtube in person.
4. Video games being part of real life.
5. Electronics/mechanics not working as expected
6. Seeing people from school that I haven't seen in a long time
7. Climbing walls or objects that I haven't climbed before.
Yeah, I have a few of those. Some I outgrow and then I barely see them again. Then there are those people from my past, who are like a bad penny, they always turn up. ;)
Stumbled onto this somehow. All of this is reminding me I need to update my general dream notes & details page on my DJ... Something for me to work on tomorrow. :D Maybe I should also catch up on my DV DJ a bit while I'm at it, will get me re-analysing past dreams that are no longer fresh in my memory.
More on-topic:
In no specific order, my main dream signs, i.e. ones that appear most often these days are mostly:
1) Spiders
2) Labcoats
3) WoW-themed dreams, especially relating to my earliest and recently-refreshed experiences of the classic game
4) Browsing a certain art website
5) Voxel-y games
6) Freelancer and other space game themes blended with reality (I've had some very interesting dreams in these themes)
I also used to have dreams about school friends or just old friends in general, but they haven't happened for a while.
There is a reoccurring theme in some of my most memorable dreams of 3 elderly african american women who are always standing side by side and always assisting me in some critical junction. I haven't been able to have conversation with any of them but there is always a great warmth and compassion emanating from them.
I've tried researching this as a theme or anything relevant and haven't been able to find anything that could be archetypal or totem related.
I've always wondered if anyone else has ever seen them before.
Re. sign 5 of Mikey5555, it is a general dream sign for everyone that electrical / electronic equipment doesn't work properly. It was the fact that our home computer was malfunctioning that produced my very first lucid dream.
+ Playing racquetball/squash. I think I have NEVER gotten lucid in this context, despite weird things (like Christmas Trees!, radios, couches) frequenting the court. Too much attention on the ball!
+ Childhood home / neighborhood. These use to be almost nightly for a while
+ Super clear/transparent bodies of water with lots of (odd) fish
+ Musical performance/playing a concert/a group rehearsal
+ Close up attention to objects: window/door locks, faucets
+ Large/tall glass walls
+ Wanting to avoid being seen from outside
+ Amphitheaters/lecture halls: large, often curved auditoriums with a fairly steep angle
+ Rectangular staircases (stairs lining the walls of the stairwell with an open area in the center)
+ Lunchtime at work (usually a poor selection of what's left)
+ Going to a restaurant for tacos/burritos/Chinese
I would say my child hood home is a big one, I also know that if there is something printed I can't read it at all. My phone is one of the examples, I try to call someone or look something up and I just can't see the phone screen. Sometimes I wake up and think ugh I should have known I was dreaming because I couldn't read my phone, or a paper, a sign, or a book.
My current reoccurring dream signs/themes are:
• people i grew up with who I don’t see any more
•being at or working in a school (despite not being a teacher and being 35)
• faulty technology
• forgetfulness
•family
• work especially colleagues I don’t work with anymore
• water , in odd places or contexts or extreme quantities.
• Snakes and crocodiles
• Odd and unlikely events
Oh and “the woman in red” ( red dress and red heels) pops up now and again no idea who she is but my goodness is she attractive its a goal of mine to find out who she is and what if anything she represents.
Some recent additions:
- ping-pong, tennis, basketball, especially at my childhood home park
- work -- lots of work topics: sitting at a (new, unfamiliar?) desk, talking to colleagues, first day at work, return to a previous job
- vehicles -- cars, motorcycles
- Any strong emotion is immediately suspect, as emotionally charged events are statistically far more likely to happen in the dream than reality
- Colleagues from previous jobs keep showing up
- I regularly find myself back in high school, with all the stress and anxieties it brings
- Gravity is always wonky, and way too weak - moving too fast down (for example) stairs will cause me to float and instantly learn flight
- I can't pull the trigger on most firearms
- Written text looks nonsensical and will change when read twice
- ...
I usually begin to dream that I am where I left off in waking reality. Before I try to lucid dream I leave on a night light. And I have a clock near me. I expect them to be broken if I'm dreaming.
So basically my most common dream signs are a broken light or broken clock.
I going to add certain emotions. Since emotions can be even more powerful than just objects. Emotion, I'm keeping to myself. ;) (In My Opinion of course.)
People. I live outside the city and rarely interact with large group of people now. It's challenging to leverage this, through, as "being with people" is such an in-grained schema, that sitting up and taking notice (even during the waking day) usually doesn't happen until *after* an interaction. But I'm keeping on this, if I can master it I'll be omni :)
^ That depends, I suppose! Try it, see if it works for you. If your dream emotions are a subset of the range of emotions, maybe just focus on those.
A lot of times, if I'm outside during my dream, it's usually around twilight: the sky is that nice, darker, more muted blue color, and you can see a few stars starting to appear. I'm not sure why, but this is generally my favorite time of day, and I guess I take most of my walks around this time or later in the night.
