Thread: What is YOUR dream sign?

Loosing teeth is a very common dream sign. I had some of those dreams myself. I had a lot of those dreams about pressing my teeth together very hard too.

Everything that happens often in your dreams is a dream sign.

Good to know that I'm not alone in this. I just hope I remember that when I dream it. Thanks.

My dream signs:

--flying. The dream will be based around a bird, me flying, seeing others fly, flying in an airplane.

--food. A lot of my dreams have to do with food. In one a few nights ago I chugged a gallon of milk, then realized why I really hated it. Another time I packed myself a very complicated lunch...and the whole story sort of revolved around that.

maybe someday i'll go back and read the whole thread for ideas

in the meantime, i have two very common one

breathing underwater and reading a closed book, or a book with my eyes closed.

Embarassingly enough, my only dream sign (that I can think of off the top of my head) would the dire need to use the bathroom. ~_~ I generally become lucid just long enough to recognize this is a physical need, and I wake myself up to run to the potty. (I've had a few, err, near misses because I dreamt that I was already on a toilet or something, and thusly "free" to go. Lol)

Here's hoping I recognize a few more pleasant dream signs.

While I only really recall my dreams a few nights a week tops, recurring things I've noticed are people or objects that look completely different from the way they should, yet I know who/what they are. (A choice example being when I met up with my --now husband-- in a dream, and he was a clear plastic bag. Doh! He won't let me live it down now.)

(Note: I've only ever written down one dream that I had, though I remember them fairly often. Never really endeavored to write them down, but I'm definitely on board now. )

I have a couple, these are the most important at the moment:

1) Being late for meetings. I hate being late in real life. I'm always early. Most of the time I'm late in dreams because of annoying DC's (I always thank them for making me lucid, the reactions are funny).
2) Acting like a criminal. I do horrible things in dreams. The other night I broke into a house with my friends to sleep there and watch TV. When the owners of the house caught us, I thought: hey, I would never do something like this! Hopla, lucid .

- Clocks. Out of all the times I've gotten so close to LD'ing, I was looking at clocks change.

I started my dream journal; the first two nights I dreamed about giant rotten pumpkins (first in a vending machine at work; second time I was in the army in a war and my job was to stack them); so I thought Great! this will be easy; pretty much anytime I see a rotten pumpkin, I'll know I'm dreaming. But, so far no more pumpkins.

But: I dream a lot about living in strange houses and now that I am writing them down I see it is very common, like almost every night. That should be useful but hasn't gotten me lucid yet. Also I remember: guns that don't work right (misfire, bullets have strange trajectory or just fall out, etc. and I see other people often have problems with self-defense in dreams as well). Also, I have often dreamt of going into a room that I haven't been in for a long time and in there are a lot of pets or plants that I have forgotten to take care of, very disturbing.

I like the pumpkin thing; nice and simple. Maybe I will get a picture of a pumpkin or a small one to look at before I go to sleep.

I have a few that are good signs...

1.) Rachelle, a girl I've never met, but yet alot of my dreams seem to be about. As far as I know she's a petite redhead, and I think once said she was from California, she also always has a rose somewhere on her. Holding it, in her hair, on her dress... somewhere.
2.) An idealized version of myself walking around the same space as me. He usually walks around in something that I myself think looks very cool, wears sunglasses and stuff. If I see him, I go over and talk to him, and tell him what I want to change and he does it.
3.) Hard to explain, kind of, but... just a... noise. I have a train that goes right outside my window, and it's not loud enough to wake me up, but often it's just enough to make me lucid if I'm not already. The noise changes slightly depending on the dream, but basically I listen for any kind of audio cue like that.
4.) Large open space, lots of people. That happens in just about all of my dreams. Biggest recurring thing I have.

I have several

1. The clothes in my closet are different than the ones I own in real life, yet stay the same from dream to dream
2. I am riding an old black yamaha dirt bike
3. I remember the people in my dream, and know their past, but have never met or known them in real life.
4. I'm walking through a house with lots of furniture, and it is not mine
5. Dead relatives come and talk to me

Invisible string. In a ton of my dreams I have grabbed on to invisible string and done something (usually swung somewhere) and it happens all the time?

i just realized one more for me
i often get chased, and when i run somewhere i can never close the door behind me. it will be stuck, or stiff, or the lock won't work

I've only recorded a couple dozen dreams. However, it seems that trains over water (think Spirited Away) feature in at least four of my recorded dreams.

Also, gold foil with patterns punched into it. What does it all mean?!

My current dreamsigns:

1.: Choices
(Whenever I make a choice, I insta-lucid) What that means?
Let's say There's a T corridor, I could go left or right, I choose to go left.
My mind will think "Why do I go left, and not right" *BLANG* Lucid.

2.: Guns
For some reason whenever i hold guns in my hands (2 pistols) I go lucid.

3.: Observant (Not a dreamSIGN )
I just go Lucid for no reason. Maybe it's because i'm ''an observant'' with such vividness that I automatically take control.
Or in other words, that my mind thinks.. Hey, Why am I looking at him, why am I not controlling myself? *LUCID* Might explain the incredibly amount of lucids I have.

I've wondered about this for some time.
My sign isn't actually a sign at all.
I've wondered if other people feel this too, but most of my lucid states happen when I notice that the world feels just a little bit different. This does not mean in any way that it feels any less real. It just feels different.
The best way to describe it is that the FABRIC of space is different. When I look across a room, even though the room looks completely real, the empty space in between me and the wall gives it away.
Sorry if I sound like I'm babbling incoherantly. Does anybody else feel/see this change in ... environment?

i know exactly what you mean. It was really weird. I remember when i was a little kid, i was sick for some reason, and was given some medicine. I was laying in my bed, and i would stare at the tv without actually paying attention to it. I then felt like something was. odd. Like the air felt weird. All the while these thoughts are going through my head, i felt like i was lifted up and my feild of veiw was a few feet higher in comparision to where it was when i layed down in my bed. I was so scared that i would hit my head on the ceiling, and i reached up to sort of stop myself, and then i was back to normal.

Later on in life i tried to explain this to myself in soo many ways. During my drug phase and especially when i experimented with pharmacy pills, i thought it may have been what i took. Seemed very plausable at the time i thought it. Then a few months later i learned about out of body experiences, and thought it could have been that due to the lifting, and the feild of veiw, which i later learned, (or more hypothesized.) was that obe's might just be lucid dreams with the intent to leave your body. The feelings didnt add up though. No vibrations.

I dont know, i have always tryed to see if i could "recreate" that feeling, right down to the feeling of difference before hand, but nothing. Its weird too because, i wasnt asleep, nor did i seem to wake up when i "got back."

mine are that i can not run or that i can not scream and somtime i have powers without being lucid like being able to travel really fast and set things on fire with my eyes and x-ray vision etc..

Hrm...new one just started popping up for me.
Owning a cell phone. I don't in real life, but for some reason they pop up in dreams every now and then. Just a day ago I had a dream followed by two FA's with cell phones...

A few years ago I remember having something of a huge ball "running" after me...
Was almost a nightmare, but usually after the ball I ended up being some strange place...

Now I don't remember any of my dreams at all

An interesting thing is that it sometimes happens to me when awake... You just start to see differently the world, mostly when concentrating on something for a while... Things far away look close and other way around...

There are 3 things that I view as signs in my dreams.

One specific friend of mine that I have a strange relationship with.
Fall Out Boy (either the band members, or a song playing in the dream)
A Chase. I always remember dreams where i'm being chased.

I need to realize that these things are signs and that I can go lucid by recognizing them. If only it were that simple! Another crazy thing about the sign of being chased is that I am actually starting to enjoy it a lot more. It's almost becomming a game that my mind is playing with me. To run, but not really care if I get caught...It's as though I know i'm not going to get caught.

Ive only been keeping a dream diary for a bit less than a month and i have found a hand full already...

- Driving a car thats orange (i dunno why an orange car... maybe cos theres bugger all orange cars these days)
-Driving a manual ( i havent got around to learning to drive a manual)
-Seeing a chick i used to know in primary school
-Being at a friends houses shed... a few weeks ago i walked in and james bond was drinking vodka and i told him to F off and to get the hell out...

All these have happened at least 3 times in the last month but knowing im lucid thats another story aint it...

I really need to ask.....

But he.. that's just me.

I guess my dreamsign is my roof, I always seem to be there when I get lucid...
