Happy New Year everybody!

Has this, or anything similar, ever happened to anybody? First, a bit of background. This was the night of Dec 30th (rather, the morning of the 31st). My friend Sarah was visiting, since we were having a New Year's Eve party the night of the 31st. She was sleeping on the couch. So I am laying in bed, and for some reason decide I need to do a reality check. So I plug my nose. Sure enough, I can breathe, so I must be dreaming. I do it a few more times to make sure. Every time, I can breathe through my plugged nose. So I slowly and carefully get up out of bed. I walk into the living room. On the couch, asleep, is not Sarah, but another friend, Faye. I decide to do another reality check. I want to be absolutely sure I'm dreaming before I do anything stupid. So I reach up and plug my nose. This time, for some reason, I cannot breathe through my plugged nose, indicating that I am not dreaming. My memory of the episode ends here.

I know for a fact that I was dreaming the entire time. Faye was not asleep on the couch in real life; Sarah was. If I was sleepwalking, I must have gotten back into bed before I woke up or returned to consciousness. Maybe my sleep paralysis wore off slightly or something, and for the final reality check, my real hand plugged my real nose, preventing me from breathing? I don't know. Has anyone else had an experience like this? Does anyone have any insight into what may or may not have happened?

P.S. Although this is about the closest I've come so far to being truly lucid and in control, my dream recall has been improving quite a bit. The other night, I remembered two different dreams at various points that I woke up in the morning. A first for me!
