Something caught my attention in the dream recall tutorial that I found..

Longer REM cycles also help create more vivid dreams so any chemical that acts as a REM suppressant (such as a sleeping pill) can produce vivid and easier to remember dreams. It is suggested that you use sleeping pills that are melatonin based because they are more natural.
If longer REM cycles are helpful.. Why would you want to suppress REM sleep? And how would that help make them vivid and easy to remember? o.O Maybe I'm simply reading this wrong, but as it stands I find myself more than a little confused.
