Sometimes I have dreams that I think were important but can't remember what they were about. Sometimes if I’m not trying to hard and even not try at all I'm surprised to start remembering parts of it without even trying. |

Usually my dream recall is pretty good, remembering a few dreams each night. But on occasion I'll have a really long and expansive dream, when I wake up it feels like I remember it...but I don't. It's like I have the imprint on my mind, but I just can't find the filling. Something like trying to remember something you discussed in a class years ago. You know you learned it, but you can't recall exactly what it was you learned. Am I making sense to anybody? |

upon waking, try to push with your mind (physically, if you know how), and focus with all your might on what you were last dreaming. feel you mind retrieving the memories. this always works for me, yes when i wake and can almost touch the dream but alas i have forgotten it! |

I pretty much use the same method that Jay does (when I'm not late for work) Clear your mind except for the search for memory of your dream, and feel yourself searching for the pieces as if you were zipping through some file cabinet. The longer you're able to devote to doing this when you wake up, the more pieces begin to fall into place, until you can remember a good portion of the dream. |

when i wake up.. i keep my eyes closed... and if the images are still hovering in my mind.. i replay my dream over and over and over again.. then later on in the day i still manage to recall every single detail... |

when one booby goes... other boobies follow...
yea, i tried the method jay and oneironaut mentioned...but it felt the harder i tried to remember the dream, the further and further away it slipped away from my grasp. |

I am the Light,
I am one too strong to fight.
Return to Dark, where Shadows dwell,
you can never have this Dreamer!
Go away and leave my sight
and take with you this endless night...
(a dreamer's prayer)

Sometimes I spontaneously remember a dream or small event from like a year ago. Nothing important, just a short exchange with a person I thought I forgot. |

Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me.

Write it down. As a musician, I know the frustration of loosing something because I didn't write it down. When you wake up, even if you can't remember the details of the dream, write down how you feel. Include any vague notions or irrational imagery; it might trigger the memory of the dream at a later time. |

Try rereading your DJ from the beginning, it sometimes helps to get in the state of mind for remembering dreams. |

I can relate to the imprint and no 'filling' as well. I recently had this happen to me with a dream I believe retained semi-significance. It'll pop in to your head one day, or so let's hope. |

I am the master of staying up when everyone is asleep, hehe! I'm manic depressive though, and I choose not to medicate, so when i'm on a high I can stay up forever. |

I can think of a few more annoying sensations then that one lol but ya I get that feeling too a vague image or feeling left in my head from what I was dreaming the night before. One time I remember being woke up in the middle of the night by my brother and thinking I was an Iguana and I wanted some fruit to eat but I couldn't remember anything else about the dream. With my most recent occurance I tried as hard as I could to remember what else I dreamed about becides this one image I had stuck in my head then later that day it was right before I was going to go to sleep suddenly it came to me what I was dreaming about. They say that your subconious takes awhile to process things you tell it and I remember thinking to myself in the morning that I really wanted to remember what I drempt and I wished my subconcious would work with me to recall better. |
