      Morning Fragments

I've been keeping a dream journal for the past week now and I've had limited success; I average one recalled dream a night with up to three recalled dreams on a particular night. When I set my alarm for 6 hours into my sleep, I awake without any knowledge of dreaming. It seems like the most dreams I remember come in the 7-9 hours of sleeping.

This morning, I seemed to have struck gold. I set my alarm for an hour and a half early and followed it with an alarm every twenty minutes. I nailed 5 dreams that seemed to be quite short. I was wondering if these are proper for the type of dream recollection I need to learn. From each of the five dreams, I recall a place, people who were present, and something that was going on. In two, I even remembered a few lines.

If these are adequate for the pursuit of recall, I think I'm going to do this tomorrow and Friday.

I guess what I'm asking is this: What does mastery of dream recall look like? Should I be remembering dreams from the 3rd-4th hour of sleeping just as well as I remember the 7th-9th hour dreams? And if so, is this morning routine going to improve my 3rd-4th hour recall?

and just for giggles, I dreamt I was hanging out with a younger version of Michael Jordan and we were smoking (I used to smoke, but don't anymore) in my room under a foosball table? He says, "Oh man, this is some good shit! I really appreciate it!" and gave me a high five. I just laughed about it and fell back asleep to tackle another one.

I think if you can remember two dreams a night you will be doing enough. I usually have 2-3 vivid dreams during the night that will totally leave my memory if I don't make notes about them. In the morning, it is all dream fragments like you said.

The good thing though, if you are getting fragments, that means you are on the border between waking and REM. This is the perfect time to practice MILD and WILD.

so I could prolly get success if I just set my alarm and hour and half earlier than I wake up then keep hitting the snooze button for 20 minutes?
