Hello all! trying to break the dreaded dry-spell of lucid dreams. this is something i tried last night that worked.
have you ever tried incubating/inducing a dreamsign of your choice? probably. i had tried it once before and it worked, i told myself that if i saw a toaster i would be dreaming. however, the toaster did not appear in a very normal way. it appeared in a blue starburst in the top-left corner of my vision (like a Heads Up Display in a video game), it got me lucid, but i could have easily missed it.
that got me thinking, if your dreamsign is, say, a dog, it could appear as anything from a real, panting, breathing dog; or it could be a picture of a dog; a leash, or collar; even the word 'dog'.
thats becuase your definition of 'dog' is open to interpretation. but there is one thing that nobody really questions, they take it at face value and dont tend to tie it to a particular image.
yessiree! NUMBERS! last night i pictured clearly in my mind the number '42' written in various places around my house, refrigerator, dry-erase board, logical yet noticable places. and in my dream, i walked past the dry erase board and saw the number '42' written on it in red. and then i realized this might be a dream, remembering my determination to see the number '42' in my dream.
however, due to an unfortunate lapse in common sense, i didnt do a reality check, and the last thing i remember was writing more 42s on the board with my fingers. but thats not the point.
the point is, that numbers are practically foolproof! of course, you would have to choose one that is short enough to recognise, but long enough so that its too commonplace. also, though numbers are less available to interpretation, they can vary in appearence. if you pick, say, the number '5', it might appear as five dots on a die/domino. or, if you pick, say, 3.14 you might end up dreaming about eating pie.
anyway, ive been talking (typing?) wayyyy too long. most likely is youve quit on me by now, but if you havnt, tell me what you think!
